Greetings Mighty Texas-Oklahoma District!

As we continue with the month of July, I anticipate that we are all well-into our summer plans. I encourage all of you not to forget the numerous service opportunities that can be found in your local communities! Check out some local non-profit organizations for service opportunities, or reach out to nearby Kiwanis clubs and see what they have going on!

Below are some of the most important updates in the CKI-world that I hope you will enjoy and take advantage of:

CKIx Recap

Olé, Olé, Olé, TO, TO.....Olé, Olé, Olé, TO, TO.....
From June 17th-22nd, Texas-Oklahoma Circle K members spent an entire week in Nashville, TN for our Circle K International Convention and Large Scale Service Project. During the first few days of the LSSP portion, we served the Nashville community in a variety of different service projects. Members volunteered at the Nashville YMCA, the March of Dimes office, Soles 4 Souls, and helped with local park cleanups, packaged food at a pantry, and made toys for the animals at the Nashville Zoo. CKI members performed 3837.5 total hours of service in three days! That is an incredible 14.5 hours of service per member. Throughout the convention portion, members got the opportunity to attend educational workshops as well as an etiquette luncheon with Mom Nonnie. We also attended two sessions of house of delegates where we got the opportunity to elect the 2014-2015 International Board as well as vote on proposed amendments to the CKI bylaws. During the Honors Celebration, the Texas-Oklahoma District was recognized with the following awards:
  • Distinguished Governor - Allison Prisco
  • Distinguished District Secretary - Cortney N. Ferris
  • Distinguished Lieutenant Governor - Marcelo Urieta Bravo (Hill Country Division)
  • 4th Place Growth Enhances Membership Award in the Ruby Division - Southwestern University (Hill Country Division)
In addition to these fine achievements, I want to commend Jonathan Lacaba for serving as our Subregion D Trustee this past year! Also, let's all give a warm welcome to Heidi Brooks for being elected as the new 2014-2015 Subregion D Trustee!
