Howdy T-O CKI!

Brace yourselves – finals are coming! With the semester coming to a close, we are all getting psyched to enjoy our holidays at home! No more homework, no more exams, but don’t forget about CKI! You can still participate in service projects away from your home chapter. This is a great time to collect food items for your local food bank as they gear up to make holiday boxes for those in need. It is also a wonderful time to focus on The ELIMINATE Project and begin planning how you plan to participate in this Valentine’s Day season through CKI’s “Show Your Love, Save A Life” campaign. This update will be featuring some great information regarding where we are as a district at this time and important announcements, such as District Convention registration, scholarship opportunities and much more! I also will be attaching a resource about the "Show Your Love, Save A Life" campaign.

The T-O Today

The second issue of The T-O Today has been released! 2. International Announcements

Trick-or-Treat for ELIMINATE

Show Your Love, Save A Life Campaign for ELIMINATE

Last year, the CKI Service Committee teamed up with The ELIMINATE Project campaign members to discuss CKI having our own ELIMINATE Project holiday fundraising campaign. The result was Valentine’s Day, with the slogan “Show Your Love, Save A Life.” Start thinking of ways your chapter can help make a difference this Valentine's Day! Attached is the resource with some event ideas!

3. Upcoming Events and Deadlines

District Convention

Our 60th annual District Convention will be held Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9 in Rockwall, TX at the Hilton Bella Harbor Hotel. The theme of convention this year is “Diamond Jubilee” – a more glamorous take on the fun and excitement that comes with DCON! Come enjoy great workshops, listen to amazing keynote speakers, participate in House of Delegates and dance the night away at the district dance! Another great opportunity to be offered this year at district convention is chapter leadership training. The training will be held Saturday afternoon. This training session is open to all members who wish to learn more about chapter leadership positions. Chapter officers for the 2014-2015 year should be elected prior to convention so that they can be trained at district convention. The registration deadline and prices are as follows:

Early Registration – January 28 - $170.00* per attendee

Regular Registration – February 4 - $180.00* per attendee

Late Registration – February 11 - $190.00* per attendee

On-site Registration – after February 11 - $220* per attendee (please note, there will be no guarantee for souvenirs or hotel room space if registering on-site)

*If paying electronically, there will be a $10 processing fee per registration*

Come join us for a great weekend of service, leadership and fellowship! Any questions regarding the weekend can be directed to Otto Sanchez, DCON coordinator at dconcoo...@txokcki.org.

T-O Kiwanis Foundation Scholarships

The T-O Kiwanis Foundation will once again be awarding scholarships to CKI members at District Convention this year. This is a great opportunity for all members of T-O CKI, so we strongly encourage you to apply for a scholarship! Please note – it is recommended that scholarship applicants attend District Convention, as scholarship interviews will be held at convention. The application deadline is February 8! Check out the application here! http://www.tofoundation.org/

District Convention Award Applications

Within the coming weeks, the district awards packet will be sent out to chapters and through this reflector. The deadline for awards that are not to be submitted on-site at convention are due February 5 by 9 p.m. Electronic submission is preferred; however, your chapter may also send applications via mail service, as long as it is postmarked by February 5. More information about award submission will be included in the packet, so keep an eye out and start planning how your chapter will tackle filling out those applications!

4. Resources

Attached to this update are some resources your chapter can use this year to help you stay in the loop and up to date with information from CKI and from the district. Attached is the resource that the 2012-2013 CKI Service Committee created that includes some great ideas for Valentine's Day themed fundraising events and projects!
