Howdy T-O CKI!
I hope you all had an enjoyable Labor Day Weekend filled with fun and relaxation! With school starting all across our district, the time to get your CKI chapter into high gear and ready for the amazing year ahead is now! In this district update, I will be highlighting some important information that will prove useful for you and your fellow CKI’ers this year. I also will be attaching some awesome resources to help your chapter start the year off on the right foot!
1. District Announcements
2013-2014 District Goals
The following bullet points are the district goals that the district board came up with for the year. We want all chapters to participate in achieving these goals, and we are excited to see the progress you are making for our mighty district!
· Increase T-O CKI membership to 425 paid members
· Charter 4 new chapters in the T-O District
· Participate in at least 6 projects throughout the year relating to the Governor’s Project, Students Team Up to Fight Hunger
· Raise $300 per chapter for district project, The ELIMINATE Project (for an estimated total of $5100 for the entire district)
· Hold 200 Interchapter Events
· Hold 75 Kiwanis-Family Relation Events
· Service Hour Goal of 10,000 hours for the general T-O CKI membership
· Service Hour Goal of 1,000 hours for the T-O District Board
· Have Fall Retreat attendance of 75 CKI members
· Have District Convention attendance of 120 CKI members

2013-2014 District Theme
To commemorate T-O’s milestone of being the first CKI district chartered, we have chosen the overarching theme of “60 Years of Service” as the District Theme for the 2013-2014 year. Throughout the year, we will celebrate the past 60 years of service, leadership and fellowship that T-O CKI’ers have dedicated to making the world a better place while paving the way for the next 60 years of T-O CKI.
T-O Today
The first issue of the T-O Today will be out within the coming weeks. If your chapter has any articles or pictures to submit for the next issue of the T-O Today, please send them to District Editor, Briana Smith at edi...@txokcki.org. We want to highlight what your chapters are doing and share your efforts with the entire district!

Divisional Fall Rallies
Divisional Fall Rallies are your opportunity to get to meet fellow CKI’ers from your division. Each divisional Lieutenant Governor has planned an amazing event for you to get acquainted with other chapters in your area. Here is the current list of Fall Rally dates and locations. Ask your division’s Lieutenant Governor for more information regarding your division’s event. You are also encouraged to attend other rallies for interdivision bonding!
Oklahoma-Texas Panhandle Division – Saturday, September 21 – Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK
Red-River/Metro Division – Saturday, September 28 – University of Texas at Dallas, Dallas, TX
Hill Country Division – Saturday, September 28 – Southwester University, Georgetown, TX
Southeast Texas/Gulf Coast Division – Date and Location TBD
South Texas Division – Saturday, October 19 – University of Texas Pan American, Edinburgh, TX
District Fall Retreat
Our annual Fall Retreat will be held Friday, November 8 through Sunday, November 10 in Burnet, TX at Camp Buckner. The theme of the Fall Retreat this year is “Rock N’ Serve” – a 50’s themed weekend filled with fun and excitement! Come enjoy great workshops and team building exercises, learn how to do the jitterbug and meet members from all over the mighty Texas-Oklahoma District! The registration deadline and prices are as follows:
Early Registration – October 15 - $85.00* per attendee
Regular Registration – October 22 - $90.00* per attendee
Late Registration – October 29 - $100.00* per attendee
*If paying electronically, there will be a $5 processing fee per registration*

T-O’s 60th District Convention will be held Friday, March 7 through Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Hilton Bella Harbor Hotel in beautiful Rockwall, TX. Come celebrate T-O’s 60th year of service, leadership and fellowship in style as we reflect and recognize a year’s worth of hard work and dedication to serve our communities.
