Has anyone ever attended this conference? I have not but wondered if it was worthwhile. Given that it is in San Antonio next year, I thought it might be worth the risk (financial and/or time). And, you know me, I have more time and money than I know what to do with…. J

My dean sent me to this conference when I first became chair in 2001 and it was in San Antonio then as well. I don’t know who is in charge of it now, or the speakers. However, this was the best and MOST helpful conference I’ve EVER attended! This would be good for all chairs in my opinion, however, for new chairs this is a MUST!
Also, on my recommendation another chair from my college attended two years later and he said the exact same thing! So, unless there has been some major overhaul, which after viewing their site appears to NOT be the case, it is still an awesome conference and WELL worth people’s time.

Chris: I attended this meeting years ago in Orlando when I was a new department chair and it was very good. At that time it was geared mostly towards new chairs. If it is in San Antonio I might attend myself just for the fellowship. Glad to hear there is plenty of money waiting to be spent at TAMUK!!

I have not nor have I heard of it or know anyone who has attended...
Chris,
I have not attended, but have been to the ACE chairs workshop. Gmelch and Seldin are worth the price of admission. Don Chu is from Kinesiology and has been a long time chair and dean. If he and the other two are on the program—it’s worth it.

I concur. Walt Gmelch was in charge of it the first time and a close friend of my dean. He is truly amazing as is Seldin! If you can swing it GO!
I have never attended but this conference has received good reviews from the LSC-System Chairs that have attended.
