I'm returning to this newsgroup after several months and I am in search of
pagans residing in the East Texas area. I'm looking for help in a business
venture. I grew up there, but am now living in Austin. The area is (as you
know) primarily christian. I'm basically looking for pagan support in the
area. Also, if you know of any groups and organizations in East Texas,
please forward that info as well.

Thanks for your help.

I know someone who lives in East Texas and she attends COW (Rountree in
Arlington) and Raven's Call (a group out of Houston (I think)). These
groups celebrate in DFW and Austin. I know that these events involve some
driving but she has met several other East Texas Pagans through those
groups.

Nashoba, the CMA Area Rep in those parts, is the POET contact. You can email
him at bo...@hotmail.com.

If you are referring to the PoET group here in Tyler, Nashoba isn't
the contact; I am. There is another group using that acronym (I think
in the Nacogdoches area) that started up sometime after we did. We
were completely unaware of each other until a couple of months ago.

And we have indeed started a series of Pagan discussion groups. Anyone
that's going to be in the area is more than welcome to attend. Our
next meeting will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 7th at the Denny's on
Southwest Loop 323 in Tyler.

We are also planning an Open Circle for Spring Equinox at Four Winds
Renaissance Fair on March 21st.

Yes, Nashoba is the contact for the POET group in the Nacogdoces area. I didn't
know there were two! Sorry! Sounds like you have a good group going. I'm going
to be moving to the area soon (hopefully) myself (Longview), so it's good to
know there are others around.

What the F*CK are you talking about? They're talking EAST Texas, Jocko,
about 6 hours and 300 miles EAST of you! Dumbshit.

I hate these damned "me too! me too!" posters.

Hi Walter

,>Where is this? I'm not familiar with this one!

That's the one outside of Tyler.... I think. It's a nice place. One of the
local covens here held a event there once or twice. Well, actually, it was
held in the field by the owners home where the staff of the fair live on fair
weekends, but we got to go over and see the place.

Rio,

Four Winds starts the weekend of March 20/21. It runs for 5 weekends.
It's not a large fair at all and can be easily done in a day.

It's not the greatest fair in the world, but it's kind of like Old
Home Week for a lot of us here in the Pagan community.

And it makes a good pep rally for Scarborough!

I moved from Tyler in the 60s but have family there. Until recent posts in
this group I didn't know pagans had a chance there.

I'm not familiar with the fair or the location, but interested. Can
someone give me specifics about directions, dates and times for the
circle, what I should bring and sponsors or contacts for more details?

I am with a group based here in Tyler called Pagans of East Texas
(PoET.) We are the ones who are sponsoring the Open Circle for Spring
Equinox.

Four Winds Fair grounds can be found by going south out of Tyler on
Hwy 110 through Whitehouse. From the traffic light at Hwy 346 in
Whitehouse go another 5.2 miles to Old Tyler Road and take a right.

There are plenty of signs and it is easy to find from there.

Just inside the entrance gate of the fair is a stone well. Those who
wish to participate in the Open Circle will be meeting at the well at
2:00 pm on Sunday, March 21.

You need bring nothing but yourself and your energy. The Circle will
be simple and as "non-denominational" as possible so as not to exclude
anyone who wishes to join us.

If you need any further information you can contact me at:
cor...@fnmail.com or see our Web Page at:

http://users.drak.net/poet/

Hope to see you there.

Blessings...Corran

I had a bad experience with Redragon and Brad Mull from the Tyler Area Pagans Meetup group, which is dormant. Redragon tried to revive it recently, but it didn't last very long, maybe because of his personality and various issues, which I haven't been shy about publicizing. He owns the meetup. In my experience, he and Mull are both mean drunks. They picked a loud fight with me at Lammas 2009 for no good reason after getting wasted--actually, they were loud (especially Mull) and I wasn't. I could smell the beer on Mull from fifteen feet away. They were accusing me of a bunch of stuff that they both know wasn't true, and I decided I wasn't going to try to associate with anyone with active substance-abuse issues--or the people who enable them. I would have appreciated some support, some regret for their awful behavior, from the rest of the group; I didn't get it and decided I didn't need the group, either. I've never gotten an apology from Redragon or Mull and I don't need it at this point, and wouldn't accept it, but if Redragon ever tries to resurrect the group again, I hope anybody reading this and trying to find a group of like-minded people in the Tyler-Longview area will keep this in mind.

I think they're on Facebook now. Remember what I said about Redragon and Brad Mull.
