Reporter made a point of saying (paraphrase) -- to the best of their
knowledge, the shooter did not have a CHL. No mention of if the
restaurant was posted or not.
Apparently, the shooter shot an ex or current girlfriend/wife AND the
manager who had tried to calm down the argument. He then took himself
out.
And some people wonder why law-abiding citizens want the right to legally carry!

If he did, I'm _quite_ sure that the media slime would be
screaming it from the rooftops. This was a multiple
murder, tight? No chance that he acted lawfully?

Might make some business folks re-think their decision to disallow
carry by their employees.......Or not - there is no limit to denial.

!!!BUT NOTHING BAD COULD EVER HAPPEN HERE!!!
The local snooze is real quiet about this one. Hope that we
can hear the details.

This was on the 10:00 news in San Antonio tonight, too, but there was
no mention either way as to whether a CHL was involved.
That's probably definite proof that a CHL was not involved for sure.
If anyone had a CHL, that fact would have been noted loudly...

He did NOT have a CHL. That was reported yesterday on KRLD. Must have
been one of the first things they checked.

I would like to know if Humperdinks was posted "No Guns Allowed"
The shooter supposely went out to his car during lunch and returned,
presumably armed.
According to the reports it was one-two-three. Shot the women, shot
the manager, reshot the women, then himself. Not a situation like
Luby's where CHL would have saved lifes, I don't believe that being
armed would have saved anyone in this case, including the Manager.
BUT - the facts still remain, if he had started to kill others -- by
not allowing law-abiding CHL to protect themselves and others, it
could have been alot worse.

Not P.C. or news-worthy, I guess until HCI starts the push again to
outlaw all guns. The Brady Bill really help those two, didn't it.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither
inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for
the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage
than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater
confidence than an armed man. -Thomas Jefferson, 1764

Where is that guy who asked "why anyone would want to take a handgun
into a liquor store," anyway?
Does it begin to sink in? People are unpredictable? You are safe
nowhere. (not absolutely safe, anyway.))

Don't know about the Humperdink's in Addison, but the Hump's in
Richardson is not posted.

CHL has the longer term potential to help even more. The bad guys will
eventually see less and less of value to having illegal guns. Maybe at
some point even that will make the difference in a life saved because
some bad guy didn't feel it of value to pack a piece that day. If only
one life ...

This is how I heard the story (from a friend of the dead manager)
the maniac invited his ex to humperdinks
she did not want to eat
he got pissed off
the manager went to stop it
the maniac said he would calm down
the manager went back to the bar area
a little while later the guy apparently went out to his vehicle and came back
in
he took a glock 45 and while pointing it at his ex, the manager came up from
behind, not noticing a gun, the maniac shot the girl, then turned and shot the
manager, then proceeded to shoot the girl some more, then the manager again,
and then blew his brains out across restaurant.
this is how I heard it, and apparently the only way a CCW would have helped is
if a person in the restaurant actually was carrying and NOTICED the gun
it was all over so fast...
I am not claiming these as absolute facts, but it is the most detail I have
heard so far....

Three die in lunchtime shooting at restaurant
By KEVIN O'HANLON
Associated Press Writer
ADDISON, Texas (AP) -- A man shot a woman he was arguing with and the
restaurant manager who tried to separate them before turning the gun
on himself Friday at an upscale bar and grill in the Dallas suburb of
Addison.
All three died in the lunch-hour shooting, officials said.
The manager was identified as Todd Brigham, Humperdink's restaurant
spokesman Brad Stribling said. Neither the female victim nor the
shooter was immediately identified, officials said.
"Everybody's still trying to hope we'll wake up (and) it'll be two
hours ago and none of this has happened," Stribling told Dallas-Fort
Worth television station KXAS. "The fact that he was trying to get in
between these two people is what did him in. He always was
trying to keep things running smooth. That's part of the reason he's
gone, I guess."
The call was reported at 1:06 p.m., and police responded within three
minutes, said Town of Addison Police spokeswoman Mary Rosenbleeth.
Stribling, a spokesman for the Tacoma, Wash.-based chain of 23
restaurants, and witnesses said the woman was sitting with another
customer in a booth in the bar area. The shooter approached, and he
and the woman began arguing.
"They were very animated," Stribling said.
Brigham tried to intervene. A few moments later, the man shot the
woman, then turned and shot Brigham in the neck or head, Stribling
said.
Police were questioning several dozen customers, including children,
who were inside at the time of the shooting. Yellow police tape
surrounded the restaurant.
Police recovered a weapon and towed the shooter's 1979, two-door
Cutlass Supreme.
