I have read articles in American Handgunner and was informed
by my CHL instructor that wearing hats, slogans, bumper stickers
shirts or any other pro gun, pro self defense advertisement
can, will and has currently caused folks a lot of legal headaches.
A recent article by Massad Ayoob (prolific gun writer and law
enforcement
expert/consultant) noted one case where a man angered by being cut off
on the highway
apparently saw his malefactor wearing a Smith and wesson shirt, called
the cops
and claimed the man was waving a gun at him. (Case still pending)
Other anecdotal cases have the concealed carrier or home self defense
person
in a situation where they have to draw and fire. The police arrive, see
a dead or wounded
bad guy and the good guy wearing a "gun shirt" the cop has on occasion
checked the homocide
/felony assault box on his report.
There have even been people brought in as witnesses during self defense
witch hunt trials
who state "yeah he was always shooting his mouth off about defending
himself, was always
wearing these militaristic vigilante slogans and had a "keep honking I'm
reloading" bumper sticker.
I will dig up my sources and cite if requested.
Anyway, I am all for freedom of speech. I was called a murder advocate
by my high school teachers for
wearing my "kill em all let got sort em out" and my Airborne ranger
"death from above" Tee shirts.
But now in our current wussy Politically correct, warm fuzzy feeling
society expressing yourself
can get you in a ton of hot water.
