"Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud
of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily
entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before
us," Hebrews 12:1

This verse kept tossing around in my mind much of the night last
night. "The race that is set before us". What is my race?

The chapter before this, chapter 11 is full of episodes of the people
whose stories I love to read in the Old Testament, people who had a
strong and enduring faith in God, and yet did not see their faith come
to fruition on earth. They were seeking another country, a heavenly
one.

Another verse that I have been thinking of is regarding a specific
prophecy about an evil leader who comes to power and violates the
house and the things of God, many fall for the lies, but "....but the
people that do know their God shall be strong, and do
exploits." (Daniel 11:32b) ".....But the people who know their God
will be strong and take action."

What is the difference? Who was strong? THE ONES WHO KNOW THEIR GOD. I
long to know my God in such a way that when the inevitable trials
come, my faith can be unwavering, not because I am strong in myself,
but because my God is strong and His thoughts toward me are good. I
want to run my race with patient endurance and live in a way that
pleases my dear heavenly Father, until I reach that country "...the
city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God." (Heb
11:10)

Know: When God asks me to do something, He will equip me to do it.
Do: Keep an eternal perspective, live with hope every day for my
heavenly home.
