The media likes to make up stories to attract the attention of the common people. The Hong Kong media, which likes to make up stories the most, said: A man is angry for his beloved, a South Korean coup, blah blah blah. It really seems like it. The South Korea's president's fashionable wife was used as a target and bombarded continuously, which made the henpecked president angry and so imposed martial law. The six-hour false alarm even shocked the United States.
What does this have to do with China? It has a lot to do with it. From this event we can see that similar histories may have completely different results because of changes of the times. Recalling a coup in South Korea more than forty years ago, it completely ended the democracy established in the American way, and Park Chung Hee was a dictator for decades. The current coup, which is a copycat, only lasted for six hours and failed. The mystery here is worth our observation.
A small detail was ignored by most media: the troops entering the South Korea Capital were ordered not to bring bullets. How could the suppression be carried out then? The Speaker of the National Assembly took the lead in climbing over the wall and entering the National Assembly to vote by raising hands. The resolution was passed by 190 to 0, which overturned the martial law order. The South Korea army apologized to the people and happily withdrew from the capital. There is no dictatorship this time, and the stepping down of the president is just around the corner. Let's wait for the formalities.
Looking back at another coup in South Korea more than 40 years ago, the army shot at the people, the casualties piled up, and blood flowed like a river. Just like the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre, it accomplished a dictatorial and authoritarian regime. Why? At that time, the South Korean people did not know what democracy was, neither did its army. So the soldiers thought they slaughtered a bunch of "traitors" and even competed for meritorious service and awards. In their view, this was not shameless.
It's different now. The people know what democracy is, so they will come out to actively safeguard democracy and oppose dictatorship. What is the army? It is the people in military uniforms. At critical moments, they will follow the lead of the people, not the lead of the privileged class. They already know where their rights and interests lie. This is a fundamental change. The change in people's hearts leads to different results despite the same origins. The answer used to be bloodshed, but now it would be a joke.
During the White Paper Movement a couple years ago, a friend asked me on Twitter: If the Tiananmen Democracy Movement happened now in China, would the army still massacre people? I said no, but I couldn't explain it clearly, because there was no hard evidence to convince the other party. This time I will say that this is the evidence: look at the changes in the times and the changes in people's hearts, which will lead to different, even opposite results.
Are Chinese people definitely conscienceless? Are Chinese soldiers not ordinary people? I have always opposed those guys who say that the Chinese people are no good. The Chinese are the bravest people.
During the period when I was paroled after the June 4th Massacre, I met senior officers of the troops who participated in the massacre of ordinary Chinese at a restaurant. I ridiculed them for having their hands stained with the blood of the people, and asked them if they should repent. They said aggrievedly: In fact, no one wants to kill people, especially students who demand democracy and freedom, "We also wanted democracy back then, and we even took some measures for this."
For example, they told the officers and soldiers of the army to only bring the Little Red Book, not guns and ammunition, and imitate the way they dealt with the rebels during the Cultural Revolution. However, as soon as they arrived in Beijing, the Chinese Military Commission already prepared weapons and ammunition. Also for example, someone ordered that according to Chinese military law, it was not allowed to shoot at civilians. But the Military Commission ordered that "shooting rioters would be rewarded", so a few uneducated soldiers shot at civilians directly. Otherwise, how could hundreds of thousands of guns kill only a few thousand people? Those guys who shot did not understand the future of a democratic and free country. They wanted to change their fate by getting meritorious service, just like soldiers in South Korea back then.
Now that South Korean soldiers have made the coup a joke, what will happen to Chinese soldiers? Will they be like those uneducated fools who wanted to change their fate in the past? Impossible. Most of the soldiers now are educated modern soldiers, and the widespread dissemination of information has made them no longer stupid fools. If Xi Jinping wants to recreate his dream of the June 4th Massacre, I am afraid that his end will not be like Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea, but Nicolae Ceausescu of Romania instead.
I am very happy that the Korean people and soldiers have helped me prove that times are changing, people's hearts are changing, and the story of a man who is angry for his beloved may indeed need to be rewritten.

媒体喜欢编故事，吸引下里巴人的眼球呗。最喜欢编故事的香港媒体说：一怒冲冠为红颜，韩国政变啦，巴拉巴拉。看来还真有点儿像，总统那个时髦的夫人被人当成了靶子不断地轰击，搞得耙耳朵的总统冲冠一怒就戒严了。六小时虚惊一场，把美国吓得够呛。
这和咱们中国有啥关系呢？太有关系了。从中我们可以看出时代的变迁，相似的历史可能会有完全不同的结果。回想四十多年前韩国的一场政变，彻底结束了按照美国方式建立的民主，朴正熙独裁专制的几十年。现在的这场照猫画虎的政变，只维持了六个小时就失败了。这里边的奥妙值得我们观察。
一个小细节被多数媒体忽略了：进京的军队下令不带子弹。这还怎么镇压？议会议长带头翻墙进入国会举手投票，一百九十比零通过议案，推翻了戒严令。军队一边向民众道歉，一边高高兴兴地退出了首都。这回没有独裁了，总统下台指日可待，下边就等走手续吧。
回顾四十多年前韩国的另一场政变，军队向老百姓开枪，死伤枕籍，血流成河，和当年的天安门大屠杀一样，成就了一个独裁专制的政权。为什么呢？当年的韩国老百姓不懂什么叫民主，军队也不懂什么叫民主。所以他们屠杀的就是一帮"乱臣贼子"，还争相立功受奖呢。在他们看来这不是什么无耻。
现在不同了，老百姓都懂得什么是民主，才会出来主动维护民主，反对独裁。军队是什么？就是穿军装的老百姓。关键时刻，他们唯老百姓的马首是瞻，不会唯特权阶级的马首是瞻。他们已经知道什么是自己的权利和利益之所在。这是个根本的变化，人心的变化，导致同样的事情产生不同的结果。以前是流血，现在是笑话。
前两年白纸运动的时候，有朋友在推特上问我：现在如果发生天安门运动，军队还会屠杀人民吗？我说不会，但是也说不清楚，没有硬的证据说服对方。这次我会说这就是证据，看看时代变迁，人心的变化，会造成不同的、甚至相反的结果。
中国人就一定是没良心的吗？中国的军人就不是老百姓了吗？我从来就反对支黑说的那帮家伙。中国人是最勇敢的人民。
六四大屠杀之后我被假释的那段时间，在酒桌上碰到参与屠杀老百姓的进城部队高级军官。我讥讽他们双手沾满人民的鲜血，是不是应该忏悔呀。他们很委屈地说：其实大家也不想杀人，特别是不想杀要求民主自由的学生，"咱们自己当年也是要民主的呀，为此还采取了一些措施"。
比如告诉部队官兵，只带红宝书，不带枪支弹药，仿照文革时期对付造反派的样子。可是一到北京，军委就准备好了武器弹药。再比如有人下令按照军法，不准开枪打老百姓。但是军委命令就是开枪打暴徒可以立功受奖，就有少数没文化的士兵直接向老百姓开枪，否则十几万支枪能够只死亡几千人吗？那些开枪的家伙可不理解什么民主自由国家前途，他们想的是立功受奖改变自己的命运。就和当年韩国的士兵一样。
现在韩国的军人让政变成为了笑话，中国的军人会怎么样呢？还会像过去那帮没文化、想着改变命运的傻瓜一样吗？不可能了。现在的军人大多数是有文化的现代军人，信息的广泛传播使他们已不再是傻乎乎的山里人了。习近平如果再现六四屠杀的美梦，恐怕下场就不是尹锡悦，而是齐奥塞斯库了。
很高兴韩国人民和军人帮我证明了，时代在变迁，人心在变化，冲冠一怒为红颜的故事可能的确需要改写了。
