The term "Great One of the Nations" was suddenly introduced last year by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and President of the People's Republic of China. The official Chinese media controlled by the CCP immediately launched commentary and propaganda. This kind of propaganda has increased significantly in recent months. On March 19, the "China Discipline Inspection and Supervision News" published an article that put forward another interpretation of "Great One of the Nations." These explanations and propaganda have become a window for observers to observe the current political situation in China.
"Great One of the Nations" Is Confusing
According to the Xinhua News Agency, the authoritative news agency of the CCP, during a visit to Shaanxi in April 2020, when talking about the ecological problems of the Qinling Mountains, the CCP leader Xi Jinping mentioned "Great One of the Nations." After that, the "Great One of the Nations" became a "high frequency phrase." However, although the CCP's propaganda department has carried out a lot of publicity on this "Great One of the Nations", it has not explained the origin of the phrase as Xi Jinping's own creation. If it is, why did he create such a phrase looking like a classical Chinese wording? Up to now, the CCP propaganda department and Xi Jinping himself have not been clear on these issues.
Many people are confused by the sudden appearance of this phrase "Great One of the Nations" through the mouth of Xi Jinping. On March 12, 2021, China's official Xinhuanet commented: "Finding the right coordinates for advancement in the 'Great One of the Nations'," which seems to indirectly acknowledge the existence of this confusion.
Earlier, on January 7, 2021, the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CCP Central Committee held a meeting, attended by Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the CCP Central Committee. Chinese official media reported that: "The meeting emphasized that... we must keep in mind the overall strategy of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the world's major changes unseen in a century, and firmly grasp the "Great One of the Nations"..."
On March 10, 2021, at the end of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which many Chinese people call the "Political Vase" of the Chinese Communist regime, Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CCP Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, delivered a speech putting forward an explanation of "Great One of the Nations": "'Great One of the Nations' is the one who is responsible. Standing at the key node of the historical intersection of the goals of struggle of the 'two centenary', the call of mission and responsibility are on our shoulders. We must unite more closely around the CCP Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core."
At present, the Chinese official media's propaganda about the "Great One of the Nations" continues... However, up to now, the Chinese official media under the control of the CCP has been unclear about what the phrase "Great One of the Nations" means, its origin or creation process, as well as its thinking.
Wei Jingsheng: It Demonstrates the Posture of the Wolf Warriors
Wei Jingsheng, a veteran Chinese human rights and democracy activist, told the Voice of America that the so-called "Great One of the Nations" may have been fabricated by Xi Jinping, who has only an elementary school-level concept yet likes to show off his knowledge, or by his propaganda team that wants to compliment Xi Jinping. What does it mean? People can get a rough idea based on the words and deeds of Xi Jinping, who holds the power of the Chinese Communist Party, government, and military in recent years.
Wei Jingsheng said: "The "Great One of the Nations" illustrates a mentality. In recent years, Xi Jinping has always been showing this egocentric mentality. It is: we are very good, we are very big, we can bully others; if you make us a little bit unhappy, your Australia will not be allowed to export beef to us, you will not be allowed to export barley to us, etc.; I can bully you anytime and anywhere, and you could do nothing. You see, European countries have bowed their heads to us; weren't they known as powerful countries back then? Now you have to bow your head obediently to us."
Wei Jingsheng went on to point out that since Xi Jinping came to power, especially in the past two years under his leadership, wolf warrior diplomacy has become the characteristic diplomacy of China, with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its ambassadors abroad competing to show their wolf warrior posture to the international community.

"国之大者"的说法去年由中国共产党中央总书记、中国国家主席习近平突然推出。中共掌控的中国官方媒体随即展开解说和宣传。这种宣传近几个月来明显加强。3月19日，《中国纪检监察报》发表文章提出"国之大者"的另一种解说。这些解说和宣传成为观察家们观察当今中国政情的一个窗口。
"国之大者"令人困惑不解
按照中国共产党的权威新闻宣传机构新华社的说法，2020年4月在陕西考察时，谈及秦岭生态问题，中共领袖习近平提到"国之大者"；此后，"国之大者"成为"高频词"。然而，中共宣传部门尽管就"国之大者"进行了大量的宣传，但一直没有交代"国之大者"这种说法究竟是有什么出处，还是习近平本人的自创，假如是习的自创，他为什么自创这样的一个疑似文言文。截至目前，中共宣传部门和习近平本人对这些问题闪烁其词。
"国之大者"这种说法通过习近平之口突然出现令许多人感到困惑。3月12日，中国官方的新华网发表评论："在'国之大者'中找准奋进坐标"，似乎是间接地承认了这种困惑的存在。
早些时候，也就是1月7日，中共中央政治局常务委员会召开会议，中共中央总书记习近平出席。中国官方媒体报道说："会议强调......要胸怀中华民族伟大复兴战略全局和世界百年未有之大变局，牢牢把握"国之大者"......。"
3月10日，在被许多中国人称作中共"政治花瓶"的中国人民政治协商会议第十三届全国委员会年会结束之际，中共中央政治局常委、全国政协主席汪洋发表讲话，对"国之大者"提出了一种解说："国之大者"就是责之重者。站在"两个一百年"奋斗目标历史交汇的关键节点上，使命召唤、责任在肩。我们要更加紧密地团结在以习近平同志为核心的中共中央周围。
眼下中国官方媒体有关"国之大者"的宣传在继续。。。截至目前中共控制下的中国官方媒体对"国之大者"这种说法究竟是什么意思以及它的出处或创生过程及其思路语焉不详。
魏京生：对外展示战狼姿态
中国老资格的人权民主活动人士魏京生对美国之音表示，所谓的"国之大者"可能是只有小学水平又喜好卖弄学问的习近平生编乱造的，也可能是他手下的宣传班子为了恭维他而编造的。它究竟是什么意思，人们根据近年来掌握了中国党政军大权的习近平的言行可以窥测出一个大概。
魏京生说："'国之大者'表现出一种心态。最近这些年来习近平一直在表现这种心态，这就是，我们很牛，我们很大，我们可以欺负别人了；你让我稍不如意，我就不让你澳大利亚向我出口牛肉，不让你向我出口大麦等等；我可以随时随地修理你们，你们也没辙。你看，欧洲国家不都向我们低头了吗；你们当年不是号称列强吗，现在乖乖向我们低头。"
魏京生接着指出，自从习近平上台以来，尤其是在过去的两年里，在习近平的主导下，战狼外交成为中国的特色外交，中国外交部以及驻外大使争相向国际社会展示战狼姿态。
中国官方媒体报道说：美国当地时间3月18日，中共中央政治局委员、中央外事工作委员会办公室主任杨洁篪、国务委员兼外长王毅在安克雷奇同美国国务卿布林肯、总统国家安全事务助理沙利文举行中美高层战略对话；杨洁篪在中美高层战略对话开场白中阐明中方有关立场：我们希望这次对话是真诚的、坦率的；杨洁篪强调，美国没有资格居高临下同中国说话，中国人不吃这一套。
但是，中国官方媒体没有报道在拜登政府上任以来的首次美中高层战略对话中，美方究竟如何居高临下同中国说话了。
"国之大者"之中的大者
"国之大者"究竟是什么意思，中共的喉舌新华网早些时候发表文章，标题是《"国之大者"，习近平为啥多次提到这个词？》。
文章说：对"国之大者"心中有数，首先要有大局观，也就是"不畏浮云遮望眼"；"多打大算盘、算大账，少打小算盘、算小账"；"大"与"小"的辩证法，习近平在中青班开班式上讲得非常明确。心怀"国之大者"，就是要自觉讲政治，不断提高政治判断力、政治领悟力、政治执行力。"
新华社没有解说习近平所说的打大算盘、算大帐、打小算盘、算小账究竟具体指的是什么，也没有明确而直接地说"国之大者"究竟是什么意思。
长期报道中国新闻的网络杂志《开放网》总编金钟根据中国官方媒体的说法提出了他对"国之大者"的解读："'国之大者'就是国家中间的大事。简单地说就是这样。我的理解是，他反复强调的是要全国、全党、全军、各级干部，各个方面的工作人员都要留意中央的动态。"
按照中文的词法，"国之大者"可以多个解释，其中包括诸国之中的大国，国家的大事，或国家内的老大。在"国之大者"的说法突然出现之后，中共控制的媒体似乎多是引导中国公众和外界将"国之大者"理解为诸国之中的大国或国家的大事。但观察家们注意到，中共控制的媒体也在引导人们将"国之大者"理解为国家内的老大，即习近平是中国万人之上的老大。
2020年12月29日，中共中央理论刊物《求是》杂志旗下的求是网发表署名"笔记君"的文章说，"总书记特别强调：各级党委和领导干部要自觉讲政治，对国之大者一定要心中有数，要时刻关注党中央在关心什么、强调什么，深刻领会什么是党和国家最重要的利益、什么是最需要坚定维护的立场，要身体力行'四个意识'、'四个自信'、'两个维护'，而不能只停留在口号上。"
中共当今所宣传的四个意识是"政治意识、大局意识、核心意识、看齐意识"；四个自信是"中国特色社会主义道路自信、理论自信、制度自信、文化自信"；两个维护是"坚决维护习近平总书记党中央的核心、全党的核心地位，坚决维护党中央权威和集中统一领导"。
金钟认为，有了这样的上下文，一切就清楚了。他说："'国之大者'就是这个国家中间谁最大，对不对？那当然是习大大最大，就是习近平最大。你看他囊括了党的领袖（总书记），国家主席，军委主席（军队最高统帅）。也就是党政军三方面的大权都在他一个人手上，其他都是暗淡无光的侍从和随员。"
"国之大者"的另一面
观察家们指出，自从2012年11月上台以来，习近平就一直在不遗余力地收揽权力。他不但是中共党魁，中国国家主席，中央军委主席即中国武装部队统帅，而且也主掌凌驾于中共和中国政府架构之上的七个委员会，即依法治国委员会、审计委员会、深化改革委员会、网络委员会、财经委员会、外事委员会、国家安全委员会。
如今，习近平再推出所谓的"国之大者"的称谓，似乎使他的权力登峰造极。但《开放网》总编金钟认为，事情还有可能有另一面。他说："我想从反面来理解就是说，恐怕党内军内有人并不认他为大，或者说还有点瞧不起他装模做样。"
金钟的这种观点也反映了中国国内外许多观察家的观点。中共党内外许多人认为习近平从地方到中央政绩乏善可陈，名声不佳。在1997年9月举行的中共第十五次全国代表大会上，习近平在按得票多少排序的一百五十一名中央候补委员中名列倒数第一。
金钟所谓的中共党内军内有人"瞧不起他装模做样"是指，2012年登上大位之后，拥有清华大学博士学位的习近平在西方国家访问时不断晒书单而招致一些人的怀疑和嘲笑。与此同时，他频频在公开讲话中读错别字，如将"通商宽农"错读为"通商宽衣"，将"赡养老人"错读为"zhānyǎng老人"，从而频频使中共网络舆论管制部门不得不采取应急措施删除网民议论。

3月10日，在被许多中国人称作中共"政治花瓶"的中国人民政治协商会议第十三届全国委员会年会结束之际，中共中央政治局常委、全国政协主席汪洋发表讲话，对"国之大者"提出了一种解说："国之大者"就是责之重者。站在"两个一百年"奋斗目标历史交汇的关键节点上，使命召唤、责任在肩。我们要更加紧密地团结在以习近平同志为核心的中共中央周围。
眼下中国官方媒体有关"国之大者"的宣传在继续。。。截至目前中共控制下的中国官方媒体对"国之大者"这种说法究竟是什么意思以及它的出处或创生过程及其思路语焉不详。
魏京生：对外展示战狼姿态
中国老资格的人权民主活动人士魏京生对美国之音表示，所谓的"国之大者"可能是只有小学水平又喜好卖弄学问的习近平生编乱造的，也可能是他手下的宣传班子为了恭维他而编造的。它究竟是什么意思，人们根据近年来掌握了中国党政军大权的习近平的言行可以窥测出一个大概。
魏京生说："'国之大者'表现出一种心态。最近这些年来习近平一直在表现这种心态，这就是，我们很牛，我们很大，我们可以欺负别人了；你让我稍不如意，我就不让你澳大利亚向我出口牛肉，不让你向我出口大麦等等；我可以随时随地修理你们，你们也没辙。你看，欧洲国家不都向我们低头了吗；你们当年不是号称列强吗，现在乖乖向我们低头。"
魏京生接着指出，自从习近平上台以来，尤其是在过去的两年里，在习近平的主导下，战狼外交成为中国的特色外交，中国外交部以及驻外大使争相向国际社会展示战狼姿态。
中国官方媒体报道说：美国当地时间3月18日，中共中央政治局委员、中央外事工作委员会办公室主任杨洁篪、国务委员兼外长王毅在安克雷奇同美国国务卿布林肯、总统国家安全事务助理沙利文举行中美高层战略对话；杨洁篪在中美高层战略对话开场白中阐明中方有关立场：我们希望这次对话是真诚的、坦率的；杨洁篪强调，美国没有资格居高临下同中国说话，中国人不吃这一套。
但是，中国官方媒体没有报道在拜登政府上任以来的首次美中高层战略对话中，美方究竟如何居高临下同中国说话了。
"国之大者"之中的大者
"国之大者"究竟是什么意思，中共的喉舌新华网早些时候发表文章，标题是《"国之大者"，习近平为啥多次提到这个词？》。
文章说：对"国之大者"心中有数，首先要有大局观，也就是"不畏浮云遮望眼"；"多打大算盘、算大账，少打小算盘、算小账"；"大"与"小"的辩证法，习近平在中青班开班式上讲得非常明确。心怀"国之大者"，就是要自觉讲政治，不断提高政治判断力、政治领悟力、政治执行力。"
新华社没有解说习近平所说的打大算盘、算大帐、打小算盘、算小账究竟具体指的是什么，也没有明确而直接地说"国之大者"究竟是什么意思。
长期报道中国新闻的网络杂志《开放网》总编金钟根据中国官方媒体的说法提出了他对"国之大者"的解读："'国之大者'就是国家中间的大事。简单地说就是这样。我的理解是，他反复强调的是要全国、全党、全军、各级干部，各个方面的工作人员都要留意中央的动态。"
按照中文的词法，"国之大者"可以多个解释，其中包括诸国之中的大国，国家的大事，或国家内的老大。在"国之大者"的说法突然出现之后，中共控制的媒体似乎多是引导中国公众和外界将"国之大者"理解为诸国之中的大国或国家的大事。但观察家们注意到，中共控制的媒体也在引导人们将"国之大者"理解为国家内的老大，即习近平是中国万人之上的老大。
2020年12月29日，中共中央理论刊物《求是》杂志旗下的求是网发表署名"笔记君"的文章说，"总书记特别强调：各级党委和领导干部要自觉讲政治，对国之大者一定要心中有数，要时刻关注党中央在关心什么、强调什么，深刻领会什么是党和国家最重要的利益、什么是最需要坚定维护的立场，要身体力行'四个意识'、'四个自信'、'两个维护'，而不能只停留在口号上。"
中共当今所宣传的四个意识是"政治意识、大局意识、核心意识、看齐意识"；四个自信是"中国特色社会主义道路自信、理论自信、制度自信、文化自信"；两个维护是"坚决维护习近平总书记党中央的核心、全党的核心地位，坚决维护党中央权威和集中统一领导"。
金钟认为，有了这样的上下文，一切就清楚了。他说："'国之大者'就是这个国家中间谁最大，对不对？那当然是习大大最大，就是习近平最大。你看他囊括了党的领袖（总书记），国家主席，军委主席（军队最高统帅）。也就是党政军三方面的大权都在他一个人手上，其他都是暗淡无光的侍从和随员。"
"国之大者"的另一面
观察家们指出，自从2012年11月上台以来，习近平就一直在不遗余力地收揽权力。他不但是中共党魁，中国国家主席，中央军委主席即中国武装部队统帅，而且也主掌凌驾于中共和中国政府架构之上的七个委员会，即依法治国委员会、审计委员会、深化改革委员会、网络委员会、财经委员会、外事委员会、国家安全委员会。
如今，习近平再推出所谓的"国之大者"的称谓，似乎使他的权力登峰造极。但《开放网》总编金钟认为，事情还有可能有另一面。他说："我想从反面来理解就是说，恐怕党内军内有人并不认他为大，或者说还有点瞧不起他装模做样。"
金钟的这种观点也反映了中国国内外许多观察家的观点。中共党内外许多人认为习近平从地方到中央政绩乏善可陈，名声不佳。在1997年9月举行的中共第十五次全国代表大会上，习近平在按得票多少排序的一百五十一名中央候补委员中名列倒数第一。
金钟所谓的中共党内军内有人"瞧不起他装模做样"是指，2012年登上大位之后，拥有清华大学博士学位的习近平在西方国家访问时不断晒书单而招致一些人的怀疑和嘲笑。与此同时，他频频在公开讲话中读错别字，如将"通商宽农"错读为"通商宽衣"，将"赡养老人"错读为"zhānyǎng老人"，从而频频使中共网络舆论管制部门不得不采取应急措施删除网民议论。
