Cochin Twestival Global 2010 which is supporting the global cause of
Education through Concern Worldwide.
Twestival is a Fund-raising event initiated by Twitter users’ around
the globe, coming together to rally around an important cause, by
hosting local events to have fun and create awareness.
Link: http://twestival.com/
What is a Twestival and how is it different from other events?
• It is a much larger event in scope and involves a team of volunteers
• It is open to a wide range of people in communities, not just
Twitter or a specific group of friends
• Twestival supports a cause by bringing global media awareness and
raising funds collectively
• It is supported by Online media giants
2009 twestival
The events took place on February 12th, 202 cities had come together
to raise over $264k for charity: We used that money to solve the water
scarsity in Uganda, India and Ethiopia.. More importantly, the
influence of Twestival was able to bring the water scarsity to the
attention of millions through a grassroots media campaign.
This was a great effort.thanks to the collaboration of everyday
volunteers who gave up their time, talents and resources to host a
Twestival. In 2009, Twestival Global and Twestival Local collectively
raised over $750k for 136 charities around the world
In India
The last Twestival happened in September 2009 for a local cause. We
raised over Rs.30,000 from Bangalore itself which went completely to
the charity 'Dream a Dream'. This year, we are working towards a
bigger and better event. As aforesaid, this Twestival is supporting
the global cause of
Education through Concern Worldwide. With the support of Globel and
local media ,, we Volunteers of Twestival largely work on propagating
the event widely over Social Media like Twitter, Facebook, Blogs and
others.
This year, 8 indian cities including first time in Kerala, Cochin is
celebrating twestival.
Now the very first Kerala twestival

The fact that faces us now is the lack of sponsorship.
We have selected Gokulam Convention Centre and we have officially told
to centre as so,
the venue is in such a fashion that we need to mint out 40,000 for
the venue itself, which is a huge amount.
If we do not get sponsors in time, we will be forced to change the
location, and this will affect a lot of our proceedings,
including the cancellation of some of the artists who have already
shown interest in this venture. As of now, we have 3 bands , one stand-
up comedian, Binny’s personalized gig and one DJ rigged to perform. We
need such a location for all this. But without a sponsor, it would not
be feasible. That is why I stated earlier that we are in risk of a
fixed venue.
Binny, even in his continuing demise in health, has supported us in
the best way possible. He has contacted various artists and has been
instrumental in spreading the word about Cochin twestival. This very
page is an example of his awesomeness. Thank you bro.

By know, I'm guessing all know about the coming Cochin Twestival. If
you haven't heard about it, go to http://cochin.twestival.com/ for
more details. The event is at Somewhere Else Cafe at Kadavanthara in
Cochin on the 25th March, 5-8 PM.
If you are interested in joining up, RSVP here -
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=106707076018488
If you could blog about this event, that could be helpful. Of course,
I don't expect you to actually type out an entire article for us(its
tiring work, I know). So I have built a post generator for Cochin
Twestival as well...
http://www.bin-co.com/others/post_generators/twestival_cochin/
"After the hit Barcamp Post Generator, presenting - the Cochin
Twestival Post Generator. Too lazy to write a post about Cochin
Twestival? Have a robot write it for you. Just copy paste the text
here to your blog. The content here is randomized - so that no two
blogs will have the same content. Just refresh the page to create a
new blog post."
Its not as extensive as the Barcamp Post Generator, but it works just as well.
Thanks :-)
