How to tweet to sandbox?

Forgive the naive question, but I want to run unit tests on tweeting from the twitter gem. I see in the twitter dev environemnt that there are "sandbox" environments I can tweet to. That way, the test tweet doesn't appear in my live twitter account. I can't find anything in the documentation about tweeting to the sandbox.

Does anyone know?
