can anyone confirm if data components should aways be attached to the document?

Hey Antonio,

You don't always have to, but attaching to the document is a common pattern.

It's more advanced Flight usage, but you can attach data components elsewhere and take advantage of DOM event-bubbling behaviour if you want. This isn't something I've seen done often, but it's possible.
