Bower Best Practices

Hi there,

I'm not sure whether this has been answered before, if so, I apologize.

2 questions...

1) Is there a list of best practice in how to use Bower?

2) Is it considered a best practice to point directly to the JS or CSS file in the bower_components folder? You obviously don't want to edit the files in the bower_components, because it will be overwritten on update, so what is the best way to go about it?
