Embedded player Javascript callback

The Javascript callback as described on the twitch API github does not seem to be functioning (exact copy paste). In fact, it seems the flash player never calls the callback at all.

It seems the player on twitch.tv now uses the eventsCallback flashvar, but I couldn't get it to function either.

Any idea how to proceed? In particular, I would really like to use eventsCallback, because it seems to support a wider variety of events.
