We have a great ride on the weekend of the 10th (Best of the white pine), but for those who'd like a new route and a bit of travel, here's an invitation to ride an organized ride just a little east of where Jim and I rode that first day of the Washington Bike Ride.

Hi, Linda and Corrie.

Naomi Fisher here from Goldendale.  I'm a bike rider, and coordinator of the Golden Valley Bike Ride, a charity ride here in Goldendale, WA.

I hope you can help us distribute the enclosed information to your members about the Golden Valley Bike Ride coming up in just two weeks!  This is a great ride that your club members would really enjoy.  Maybe you know of other lists to forward this info to, as well.

Our ride is coming up on Saturday, Sept 10th.  Sorry this announcement is so late.  We didn't have your club on our info list when we sent notifications this spring.  We'd love to see some folks from your group here this year.  I've attached our brochure PDF.  We weren't able to get our online registration working this year, so if the mail-in applications are post-marked by the 1st, we'll honor the early bird discount price of $40.  (Of course, on-site registration is also available the day of the ride.)  If your riders have questions, they can email me or checkout the website, goldenvalleybikeride.com.  Proceeds from the registration fees help our domestic violence prevention programs in Klickitat County.

Thanks!

Naomi

Saturday 9/10/11

Road Touring
Goldendale, WA

Tour the beautiful rolling hills and canyons of Klickitat County in this great end-of-the-season ride. The route features moderate to challenging courses from 33 and 63 to 103 miles.  Several spur options mean you can customize your distance in 10 mile increments to suit your time or level.  Our challenging Century ride is the featured course, running from graceful farmland through forests then in and out of Glenwood Canyon. Two canyon climbs, including one 6% grade, and stunning views will make this a ride to remember.  The metric century runs the same course with a turnaround at the riverside stop in the bottom of the Glenwood Canyon and includes about 2500 feet of climbing. An optional loop adds 10 miles and 500 feet of climbing.  All shorter rides loop through the lovely Klickitat Valley, featuring rolling hills and golden farmland, and moderate climbing from just 500 to 1000 feet.

Fully supported, with sag wagons and rest stops approximately every 15 miles. Registration is open from 7am to 10am on the day of ride at the Goldendale Grange, 228 E Darland, Goldendale, WA 98620.  $50 fee includes snacks, lunch, post-ride dinner and T-shirt.  Pre-register by mail (postmark accepted) or email by Sept 1st for a $10 discount.  Forms and info available at www.goldenvalleybikeride.com.

Sponsored by Group Health and Soroptimist International of Goldendale.  ***Breaking news*** Group Health has just announced that our riders are eligible for its "Text Your Bib" promotion, to enter drawings for a free Novara bike, a 4-day Oregon wine country bike tour or a free entry to next year's Golden Valley Bike Ride.  Details in rider registration packets, on-site Saturday morning.

Registration fee of $40 increases to $50 September 1st.  Additional forms, route map and ride info available at www.goldenvalleybikeride.com.
