Thanks, Marcia. I'm aware of the ride of silence coming up. I'm surprised to
hear there isn't something in Boise. Seems to me Steve did it last year.

I think its unlikely we're going to ride through downtown Lewiston in
silence and to do it on the bike path is just silly--

Corrie, Pam: I ran across this on an OutdoorNW site and thought it might be
something the club and/or the Crazy Ladies (it's a Wednesday) would want to
do. If you look at the map, Idaho is one of only a couple states that do not
currently have a location. Unfortunately, I'll be in Utah that day (also a
state without a ride).

Boise's Ride of Silence last year was in specific response to the
killing of Sarah Howard, a cyclist stopped at a red light in a bike
lane who was killed by a prescription abusing hummer driver who
crashed into the bike lane and across the sidewalk. For many weeks it
appeared the police would not even give the hummer driver a citation
which greatly concerned the cycling community. Eventually, the driver
was cited and is being tried for manslaughter. To my knowledge, there
is no annual event here; had the prosecutor not eventually filed
charges, we’d likely be holding an annual Ride of Silence in Sarah’s
honor.

The ride of Silence’s purposes are covered in that blog. I don't
believe riding the bike path would meet them. However, an annual Ride
thru town would meet the stated purpose.
