Some thoughts I was having about the next event.... I think holding it at lan world again would be fine. But, I think capping registration at something managable like 40 or 50 people would be a necessity. So, we should set up some kind of online registration that way we can ensure everyone gets a spot, we can organize things better, etc etc.
As for the big event this summer we will need a bigger venue but that is going to be a lot more involved. Lanworld already has all the networking equipment we need and that's an expensive problem we'd need to solve at a different venue, or at least would take some community support to bring switches and things. We'd also need to plan for stuff like table and chair rental. Overall the challenge of a larger venue is balancing the costs with the registration fees and income or other forms of support from sponsors. I think that, given our prior experience, the next one will run a lot more smoothly, but if we want to pull off the big event this summer we need to start working now to ensure all of our ducks are in a row and we don't overextend ourselves.
Some income ideas I had: player passes will cost money in the form of a registration fee. We can make a meal included or optional for like 5 bucks if we can't afford pizza with just the registration fees... We can also sell t shirts to raise a bit of extra money to support the event if we can't break even after that. Overall I think the challenge of the big lan will be balancing the budget
