Well given the success of our "test run" i'd say it wouldn't hurt to
set a date for our planing meeting for our next event. We can address
changes that should be made or any improvements we can think of to
make our next LAN even better!

Let me know what dates in Late April early May that work for a date to
meet up and start planing our next event!

Hope to hear from many of you!

Most Saturdays should work for me.  Just pick a date and roll with it IMO.

Some thoughts I was having about the next event.... I think holding it at lan world again would be fine. But, I think capping registration at something managable like 40 or 50 people would be a necessity. So, we should set up some kind of online registration that way we can ensure everyone gets a spot, we can organize things better, etc etc.

As for the big event this summer we will need a bigger venue but that is going to be a lot more involved. Lanworld already has all the networking equipment we need and that's an expensive problem we'd need to solve at a different venue, or at least would take some community support to bring switches and things. We'd also need to plan for stuff like table and chair rental. Overall the challenge of a larger venue is balancing the costs with the registration fees and income or other forms of support from sponsors. I think that, given our prior experience, the next one will run a lot more smoothly, but if we want to pull off the big event this summer we need to start working now to ensure all of our ducks are in a row and we don't overextend ourselves.

Some income ideas I had: player passes will cost money in the form of a registration fee. We can make a meal included or optional for like 5 bucks if we can't afford pizza with just the registration fees... We can also sell t shirts to raise a bit of extra money to support the event if we can't break even after that. Overall I think the challenge of the big lan will be balancing the budget

I agree... online registration and a cap on participants is necessary... I think when we meet we can get a date set for the next smaller lan, discuss other improvements, and discuss what we need to do to set up the larger lan in mid/late summer.  I agree that finances will be the biggest hurdle so we will have to make a large effort for funding.  Also this next smaller LAN i'm not sure if I can afford 50-60 bucks for pizza again so telling people we will take orders for the 5$ pizzas at a certain time during the event... anyway we can discuss this when we meet... hows the first week of may for everyone?  say wed or fri evening?

I think you guys can handle this. If we are going to host it at
LANWORLD again, we will need to make sure he has all the network
there. I can help. You guys have a good team and I think you can
doit.

I will come and have fun - lol 1v1 , so I can work on my game.
*
Let me know if you guys need me in the planing, if we decided to go
with the BIG lan.

I'm not sure if you guys ended up meeting or not, but I was thinking,
if we were too crowded last time at LANWORLD, but we still want to
hold it there again, maybe limiting it to Diamond/Masters or Plat-
Masters or something along that line would help to reduce overall
numbers. I know it's counter-intuitive... we want as many people as
possibly to come out and take part, but if we simply can't fit them
all, it won't do any good to have them all there.

I just got called into work :(.... unfortunately i will not be able to make it...  If one of you can take notes. and fill me in on what you guys collectively decide.  Then I am meeting with Fang from Lan World Gaming soon so I can ask him if the date you guys decide for the next lan (small one) will work with him...

again sorry about that guys, however i'm looking forward to hearing what you come up with!

the reason i ask is because the tea garden is a long walk for me and I don't really want to do it to meet one or two people, neither of which is our fearless leader, as much as I like you guys.

Also alan, your phone number isn't working for some reason.

Yeah lets do that seems like it would only be the 3 of us I think it would be a lot better if we had everyone.

damn sorry about that guys... i'm available tomorrow night but I work Saturday... we also could do a skype conference call if that works better for people? However meeting in person would probably be best... I'm just busy cause this is my last week of classes and its finals next week...  Either way let me know what you guys decide and if I can make it I will go :-D

I interview at Lan World Gaming next week so maybe i'll be working there for the next lan lol :)
