MetroGIS gettin' it done for open GIS

Hey Everybody,

I wanted to pass along some news from the folks at MetroGIS. They've been working for the better part of this year on getting the seven county governments of the metro area to institute open data policies for this GIS data. They wrote a fantastic set of reports this fall about the obstacles to and benefits of open data, and have gathered a set of open data/open GIS policy documents.

And now the MetroGIS Policy Board has formally recommended to the seven county governments of the metro that they make their public GIS data open and freely available!

Way to go MetroGIS!
