Would anyone like to go to this - I can't 'cos it's a working day. However, I could make enquiries of CycleSheffield as to whether they could pay travel expenses - I doubt whether they could meet the charity fee of £99 though.

Why Send a Representative to The 3rd Annual 20mph Places Conference?

In 2011 residential 20mph limits without traffic calming won  EU and UK Government best practice status.  Therefore, wide-scale 20mph limit implementations are becoming more widespread and are inevitable. The authorities of 7.5 million people have already democratically agreed a Total 20 policy.

Consultation, engagement and implementation incur costs - about £1,400 per km or £2-£3.50 per head - ie £500k for a city of 200,000 people.

Coming to the 20mph Places Conference on 1st May at London Transport Museum has these benefits.

*        Understand the issues on 20mph speed reduction without humps

*  Saves the authority money by learning how to consult, social market and implement 20mph limits well.

*   Understand funding strategies and how to win partner organisation contributions.

*       Save time by having an implementation strategy that works quickly to gain popularity and driver compliance

*      Avoid making mistakes / de-risk your implementation of 20mph limits by learning to avoid potential pitfalls.

*      Learn the best practice evidence on how to most quickly and effectively reduce the number and severity of road casualties through 20mph limits

Keynote speech from Norman Baker MP, Under Secretary of State for Transport
