Hi there! Welcome to the first issue of my occasional newsletter. I'll
keep this short and sweet, since I know your time is valuable.
Many of you are former subscribers of The Tweney Report, the Internet
business and technology newsletter that I published from approximately
1998 until 2002. If you're one of those, welcome back.
After the end of the Tweney Report, I helped create and launch a
magazine devoted to mobile technology called "Mobile PC" (later renamed
"Mobile"). This magazine was published monthly from February 2004
through September 2005, when its parent company, Future Network USA,
closed it down. Some of my work for that magazine is here:

Since Mobile folded, I've been a freelance writer and editor,
contributing to a variety of technology publications as well as doing
work for corporate clients.
Here's what I have been working on this month:
You've Got PayMail
AOL has announced plans to charge for sending some e-mail, in hopes of
curtailing spam. But skeptics aren't buying it. (Technology Review,
2006-03-06)

Big Shot
A review of the Sony DSC-R1, a digital camera with a big image sensor
and a massive 5x zoom lens, in the April issue of WIRED (page 74).

I've been busy with several other projects I can't talk about yet;
details on those when they are published/announced.
On my blog, I've recently written about Wikipedia, evolution, Creative
Commons, and the end of the world as we know it. As always, see my
personal site for the latest:

I'll keep future updates short, generally making announcements only when
I have publications or appearances to announce. Until then, take care.
Thanks for your time!
