Hi i would like to put inside a AS2 swf using loadMovie or something
else...
It is possible?
Otherwise, somebody knows some kind of gradient tweening made in AS2?
Many thanks

Hi,

Not possible to load AS3 in AS2 - see Adobe documentation:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.h
tm?context=LiveDocs_Parts&file=00000011.html

Other alternative AS2 tweening engines (your mileage may vary):

FuseKit (ZigoEngine):
http://www.mosessupposes.com/Fuse/

Tweener:
http://code.google.com/p/tweener/

TweenLite/TweenMax:
http://blog.greensock.com/tweenliteas2/
http://blog.greensock.com/tweenmaxas2/

Twease:
http://play.visualcondition.com/twease/

There is a speed comparison (not including Tweensy) at:

Steve

Hi Steve,
Thanks for all these information. I already been using some of these
ones, they are good, but not to much cool as your tweensy.
I mean, Tweensy effects with gradient and lights are real, great, but
in AS3. ( as you know, now i need put these effect into a AS2
project...)

Do you think that is possible get the same real effects using matrix,
blur in Fuse ( for example..) ?
Otherwise, It could be possible convert my Tweensy movie in AS2 code?

Many thanks again, and congratulations for your work.
Juan

Hi,

Tweensy not my work, I was just helping out with a response to your question on AS2 tweening engines, however I agree that it is to be congratulated. As you may or may not know, not all direct effects that are available in AS3 are available in AS2. Since you were referring to embedding AS3 in AS2, which would require the later Flash plugin even if it were able to work, why don't you just code/convert the application to AS3 and use Tweensy? - what is the reason for not using AS3 overall?

AFAIK, you can't directly tween gradients in AS2, however you can redraw the gradient to achieve such effects, i.e. this article with example source/class and gradient editor:

Hi Steve,
Well, this application in AS2 took to me about 30 days, and now i got
no more time to change it. ( there are to much fla files,.. around
300, it is like my little masterpiece! :-) )
Anyway, it's good for me to know all the possibilities working with
AS3, AS2, Tweensy... or this cool example of AS grafient that you sent
me.

By the way, this morning i read that you can connect AS2 files with
AS3 files using localconnection. http://www.gskinner.com/blog/archives/2007/07/swfbridge_easie.html
Let's see if it works betwen tweensy and my AS2 project, probably this
is the last chance that i have. :-(

Thanks for everything again,
Juan
