Hello all,

I'm relatively new to Twine, I'm relatively new to using the program
(but I do know HTML and CSS, so I'm not entirely green) and was
thinking of trying something experimental with it.

I would like to include a Gamemaker file (a .exe) along with my Twine
game that is part of the story and supplements the experience. At
certain points in the story, I would like to include a link that would
launch the file (the story's html file and the exe would all be local
on the player's computer).

Is there a good way to do this without prompting the player to open it
themselves?

Thanks for any help

Doesn't GameMaker support exporting to HTML5 (JavaScript mostly)? See Spelunky HTML5 (Spelunky is probably the most advanced GM game of all time and needed some extra work) for details.

Don't forget, not everyone uses the Windows Operating System! That said, even if they do, as far as I know there is no way to launch a file on the user's local machine remotely as you need to specify a directory (and you can't specify directories remotely, either).

So yeah, the ideal solution for me would be not having to download anything (let alone having to run it through WINE) and experiencing the whole thing in my web browser in true Web 2.0 fashion.

Regards,

Yannis

Thanks for the replies.

Yes Gamemaker supports it, but it's an expensive add-on. That probably
would be the best way though (HTML5 +Javascript).

Thank you guys for the quick responses!

Just so you know (this is an old post) there is a humble bundle with GameMaker and HMTL5, android and iOS modules for 15 dollars. You should hurry up!
