Error: The program can't start because MSVCP71.dll is missing

Hello -

First of all, this program looks amazing. I've been searching for an
IF maker with the exact specifications of Twine. One problem - it
won't load after I install it. I get the message "The program can't
start because MSVCP71.dll is missing from your computer." Is this file
missing from the installation executable?

I'm installing it on Windows 7 Ultimate.

Well, to anyone who is having the same problem, I just searched for
the file on my computer and found that a few other programs had this
file in their program folder. They all have the exact same file size
so it must be a universal file. I copied it from an Adobe folder and
pasted it into the Twine program folder, and voila, it worked.

I just wanted to say I had the same problem under Windows 7.  I copied MSVCP71.DLL from elsewhere on my system to the Twine Program Files folder.  Please package this DLL with the installer, so no one else will have to troubleshoot this issue.

Unfortunately there are very strict rules that Microsoft has about bundling that DLL. It hasn't made updating / writing a new version of Twine easy at all!
Currently: If you're using a 64-bit variant of windows and you want to try the latest alpha builds (which are win32) I'm told that setting compatibility mode for win32 on the installer .exe before you run it seems to work.

Just found this program and am having the same "missing MSVCP71.dll" issue ~ I couldn't find it anywhere on my computer, not even any of my Adobe folders.

I'm on Windows8, and am having trouble setting the compatibility. I can't find the 32-bit compatibility option anywhere. Any advice? :)

Ask a friend to find it on their comp and email it to you. That's what I did. Unfortunately, I can't attach it here.
