Asterisk Question

Hello there,

I am well on with writing the Twine version of my game 'Escape from the Crazy Place'. The game contains quite a lot of footnotes which are currently indicated by asterisks. Is there anyway to display an asterisk in Twine without it becoming a bullet point, or should I just change them all to daggers?

You might try """*""". It's a bit of voodoo that might not work in upcoming versions of Twine though, even if it works in this one.

You might ask Devi. I know in their game, The Abyss, asterisks are used. See my Post Your Game Thread—With a Twist thread right below this one for a link.

With SugarCube, you can do something like this for a reasonably brief syntax. First, set up a widget:

:: Footnote [widget]
<<widget "*">><nowiki>*</nowiki><</widget>>

Now you can write:

And the Marquis objected vigorously.*

<<*>> The vigorousness of the objection has been hotly debated in the centuries since.

I'm not sure whether you can do anything similar in Sugarcane/Jonah...

Just put a space before the asterisk.
