I am now having a similar problem as the other guy with creating element back in June.

I just received another computer for my job.  I registered the same dlls that I had on my previous 64 bit system onto the new one and now it gives me the same 80040001 error when I execute one of my apps that previously worked on my old 64 bit system.
Executed the same regsvr32 /n /s /i:user opentwebstlib.dll & regsvr32 /n /s /i:user OTWBSTPlugin.dll

Now when I run my program it states the following: Can not properly create new browser object.  It is possible that OTWBSTPlugin.dll is not properly registered!

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64bit, and I've been using OpenTwebst 1.2 for over a year, with no problems.  I just tried using v. 1.4 and that failed as well.

I need quick assistance as productivity has just taken a hit.

Why do you manually register the DLLs? Just try to use the setup and see what's going on.

Adrian.

That's valuable info, I will try to reproduce the issue on my machine because the /s thing (per user registration) has never been really tested.

Adrian.

Hey Adrian, I just came from IT Support and they tried registering it using Admin rights, and it still gave the same error.

Executed the same regsvr32 opentwebstlib.dll & regsvr32 OTWBSTPlugin.dll.

It said registration succeeded for both files  But when I run my program it displays the same error in the file attachment image.  Still looking into it.

Adrian,

So I just spoke to one of my associates who has knowledge of the image build for my laptop and he says there is nothing in the image build that would disrupt the IE automation.  Are there specific IE settings I need to be on the lookout that may be disrupting the OTWBSTPlugin.dll??

Any insights would be helpful since the error still remains.

Thanks,

Ash

Ok, I was able to see that when I use the standard IE API, when the browser is created, it gets disconnected. I would then have to find it to reconnect it again.

Hi,

I remember a case when IE objects got somehow unregistered and everything stopped working.
To fix it I used
regsvr32 oleacc.dll

You could give it a try though I don't think it would apply to your scenario.

Can you try the simplest script like StartBrowser and Navigate to see if it works (because as far as I understand you have a more complex C# application) ?

Regards,
Adrian.

I did try using just start browser and it did not work, same error.  In fact every app I created using Open Twebst failed ever since I received the new computer.  I checked the REGEDIT and found oleacc.dll is registered.

Adrian,

How do I load your OTWBSTPlugin.dll file in which I am able to debug it?  Essentially, I'm trying to see where exactly in the code is the failure when it tries to use the start browser method so as to give you exactly where the problem is so you are able to solve this problem that is putting my work in a standstill.

Please guide me in this effort as I have no experience in com/C++ programming.

Thanks,

Ash
