Srinagar: Keeping in view the increasing weather conditions, School Education Department Sunday amended the previous announcement for summer vacations for Pre-Primary and Primary classes of Kashmir division.
Earlier on Saturday, the department has announced summer vacation upto 12th standard for all government and recognized private schools from July-01 to July-10. However, in a fresh communique, it has said that the Pre-Primary and Primary classes of Kashmir division shall observer summer vacation from June-26.

The order regarding the summer vacations was issued by Director of School Education Department, Ravi Shankar Sharma. As per the order, the decision regarding the Summer vacations have been taken considering the hot weather conditions in the region. As per reports, schools in Kashmir Division will get their usual 10 day summer holidays.
According to the Holiday Calendar followed by Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Division Schools get a longer summer break while Kashmir Division Schools get a longer winter break. Schools in Kashmir get a three month long winter break and a 10 day summer break while the Jammu Division schools get shoulder winter break and a month and a half summer vacation.
Jammu, Jan 4 (UNI) Keeping in view harsh weather condition, the Directorate of School Education Jammu has extended winter vacations in schools of Summer Zone upto January 6, 2023.
As per the order issued by the Directorate of School Education, the winter vacation, ordered vide this office order number 1354-DSEJ of 2023, dated: 18-12-2023 extended upto 6th of January 2024, in respect of all Government and Private recognized schools, falling in Summer Zone of Jammu Division, in view of the inclement weather conditions.

Jammu: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday announced a 48-day summer vacation for educational institutions up to Class 12, including recognised private schools, falling in the summer zone of Jammu division.
An official order said all government and recognised private schools upto class 12th falling in Jammu division (summer zone) would observe summer vacation from June 8 to July 25 as per past practice.
Educational institutions including universities, colleges and schools were closed across the Union Territory in April following a spike in Covid-19 cases, but the students are attending their classes through online mode from their homes.
While schools in Kashmir and parts of Jammu falling under the winter zone close for nearly three-month winter vacation and a 10-day summer vacation annually, the summer zone schools in Jammu usually have one-and-a-half month summer vacation, and a brief winter break every year.
Issuing the summer vacation order for summer zone schools, Principal Secretary in School Education department B K Singh, however, said there would be online interaction of teaching faculty with students at least once in a week.
"Weekly programs and assessment shall continue to be conducted throughout the vacations for engaging children in cultural activities and for consolidation of curriculum/ syllabus already covered, the order said, adding the teacher would remain available for any query of students on his phone or through other online modes of communication.
The academic calendarSchools affiliated to the CBSE traditionally begin their new sessions in the first week of April and then break for summer vacations in May or June depending on different schools and classes. The session then resumes between July and August. Many state boards also follow a similar calendar of completing exams before April, and declaring vacations from May before restarting in July.
