Ok, I love the winamp library, but would love to enqueue only the song I select when I search something, now when I double click, it add all the songs that match the search result and remove my current playlist.
OP: I installed newest winamp version 5.8 build 3660 (x86) and it has lag way too often (imo there should be NO lag at all!). It's awful with that lag to have the music interrupted for half a second now and then. So I installed an old version 2.xx and it had no lag. But then read that it is from 2000, dont know if there would be security risks of using such an old program?
If anyone have knowledge of the latest version that has no lag it would be appreciated. Otherwise im going to start downloading older versions from www.oldversion.com/windows/winamp/ testing them out until I find the newest one that does not lag the tracks.
I'm sure most of us are on 5.6. It seems that Egg made a post on July 2022 and released 5.9. I usually check once a year or some such to see if they've finally released a new version and I think 5.9 is in fact something that I have not tried, if memory serves me right. I use winamp for the gapless playback / huge library it can construct easily (over 1TB of music here) / wireless file transfer (stopped working some time ago) / remote control on android / shoutcast / album cover finder / and most importantly the slick thin top bar it minimizes into that is always on top.
I'm still waiting for the android app and still use the winamp player for many reasons (e.g. gappless, wireless file transfer), but the song search functionality hasn't been working on android now for some time. I remember reading they're working on it. Anyone know anything about that?
What version of winamp do you use? Which is the best version to use and why? I am using winamp 5.66 It plays music but there is a major bug: the window positions reset outside of the desktop area most days. I liked the old versions more like 2.95. What do you think?
Bandcamp has better service than this, because they still take 15% or 25% revenue from each purchase, BUT THEIR SERVICE IS FREE, Paying is OPTIONAL for perks, not base level like here.
Heck, EVEN SPOTIFY has a somewhat better service.
At this point, winamp should just give up. VLC is way better, heck, even XMPlay is better than this.
Not to mention other winamp based projects like WACUP.
I'm running winamp 5.8. Been really enjoying it so far. But one issue that's been bugging me is that I can't figure out how to modify how my albums are sorted in media library the way I want to. I currently have them sorted alphabetically as I want, but, albums that begin with the word 'A' (example 'A Hard Day's Night') count the A when sorting the album, they are all bunched up in the A category instead of being sorted to H for instance. Now that doesn't seem like anything wrong, but albums that begin with 'The' (example 'The College Dropout') ignore the 'The' when sorting the album alphabetically, The College Dropout is in the C section, not the T. which makes sense and looks much cleaner. I just can't figure out how to implement that for 'A' albums as well, because it seems to be that applies to 'A' albums for every other music app and streaming service I've used before, where they always ignore 'The' & 'A' at the start of a title. but Winamp has this annoying inconsistency. I've tried checking preferences and messing around with Smart View, but I just cannot wrap my head around how to do what I'm trying to do. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated thank you.
Have been having issues with the latest version of Winamp lately, where preview text when hovering over the winamp icon on the taskbar is displayed as chinese text (this usually is Artist - Song - Album). Attached is an image of the problem (marked in red).
So, I have gigs and gigs of local files, some from the 90s, and still buy cds from musicians and rip them to my computer (and save them to my cloud). I'm still running winamp 5.666 with my favorite skin V-amp. It's small, it's clean, and it just works.
I have no idea why, but winamp seems to think it's the most important program on my computer. It could've been hours ago that I minimized it to the tray, checked several other programs, etc., and when I decide to play a game, I see winamp. I open youtube and decide I want it full screen. BAM! Winamp. Video file because I want to watch a movie or an episode of a series. Yup. WINAMP!
Hi, I was looking for a skin that's is easy on my eyes which are sensitive. I found this skin on archive org which is perfect, but the library text color (right side) is super grey. I managed to open the skin file with 7z but I couldn't manage to change the text color into something brighter. What could I do? The skin name on archive is ' default winamp skin dark blue by emiledesm "
