Am I my connectome? Statistical issues in functional connectomics
In this talk we overview statistical methodology for the study of so called functional
brain connectomics - the study of neural coactivation. The "connectome" is the term
used to describe a complete catalog of functional and structural connections in the brain.
We overview technology for exploring the connectome, while focusing on
resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). We explore the scientific
potential and the statistical pitfalls in this area. Of particular note is the reliability
and reproducibility of measurements. Tools for measuring reproducibility of images
and graphs will be given. Finally, specific strength and weaknesses of data processing
and analysis pipelines will be explored.
