唉! 唱片公司騙錢的把戲..........
裡面所有的錄音都是 1993 年之前的....
整片 CD 唯一"新"的部份 就是封面那張 Mutter 的 95 年定裝照....
Tower 還堆成一堆在賣呢...... 讓我一點買的慾望都沒了....
她的登峰造極之作.........
嗯, 我想, 那張 DG 4D 的卡門幻想曲似乎不錯......

I can't agree with you on this. Try and compare Mutter's "Carmen
Fantasy" disc with anything Sarah Chang recorded up to now. I think
the simple comparison will make Chang sound, well, like a 11-year-old
(although she's 15 now).
I saw Chang played the Mendelsohn E minor concerto with Masur/NYPO in
Lincoln Center, and I don't she sounded half as good as on CD. Maybe
she will be an outstanding violinist in a few years, but definitely
not now.
Shaham is quite amazing though, I must agree.

I apologize if I sounded unfriendly, but that was never my intention...
Anyway, I think Chang *could* very well become a exceptional violinist
in the future, given what she is able to do now. What I think she
lacks *now* is emotional depth. She may very well be technically
superior to Mutter in some places, but emotional contents they
injected into the music is not on the same level, IMHO. That's why I
think is not even fair to compare the two. (To be fair, I bought
Chang's recording of the Paganini VC#1 and was totally swept away by
what the then 13-year-old can do, but was really disappointed after
seeing her play the Mendelsohn VC live on TV.)
One other note: I have a tape of violin pieces played by Sheryng and
Grumiaux on Philips. I don't remember which of the two played
Sarasate's "Gipsy Airs" (I could never remember how to spell the
original title). It sounded so lousy!! It sounded like the violinist
was having a hard time playing the notes, and even skip a few notes in
places just to keep up! Mutter's is the most fiery, electrified
version of the piece I ever heard.
Any comments welcome, and sorry again to ipo if I sounded harsh.
