Commas in names are only used in lists, filing systems, and on some
bureaucratic documents, for purposes of alphabetizing and archiving. With
the advent of powerful databse systems, the use of commas is gradually
becoming less common.
"My name is Lin, Lan-Chyi" is wrong.
"My name is Lin Lan-Chyi" is right.
"My name is Lan-Chyi Lin" is right.
The following is right (because it's a printed list):
Students
----------------
Buechel, Fred
Deagle, Dolores
Gonzalez, Edgar
Lin, Lan-Chyi
Myers, James
Smith, Margaret
Tanaka, Yuki
Zerelli, Barbara
