Aren't 粥 and 稀飯 different? I love the former, but can't stand the latter.
Oh, another term for 稀飯 is "xifan".
According to 教育部國語辭典
粥
解釋 :[名]稀飯。如:小米粥、廣東粥、牛肉粥。
Perhaps it's just the way it's prepared. I find 廣東粥 to be very tasty, but
Taiwan 稀飯 to be unpalatable.
好像也有人翻成soft rice?

台灣有些地方會煮一種湯湯的飯,稱它為「飯湯」,rice soup?
湯裡的飯是呈粒狀,不是粥糊,像 Ochazuke茶泡飯裡的飯一樣。
