Speaker: Ian McCulloch
Title: Matrix Product States and Tensor Networks
Abstract: I will give an introduction to Matrix Product State methods for 1+1-D chains and 2+1-D cylinders, including the DMRG algorithm for ground-states, and a brief survey of real-time evolution algorithms, using the Schwinger model as an example.

Title: Parton physics with tensor network states in the Schwinger model
Abstract:
Hadrons are bound states of quarks and gluons, whose rich internal structure is encoded in partonic functions such as parton distribution functions (PDFs) and light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs). These quantities are crucial in collider experiments and decay processes. Their calculation, however, is notoriously difficult: they involve matrix elements with Wilson lines along a lightlike direction, which is not directly accessible in the Euclidean lattice formulation commonly used in Monte Carlo simulations. In contrast, the Hamiltonian formalism allows for a direct treatment of light-cone dynamics. We present a tensor-network framework that extracts light-cone matrix elements in Minkowski space through real-time evolution, and demonstrate its application to the Schwinger model. We obtain PDFs and LCDAs for different fermion masses with controlled uncertainties. This work demonstrates the feasibility of tensor networks for dynamical calculations in gauge theories and marks a step towards such computations for QCD.
