Thanks, Steven.
"I have no idea where this Quick Start Guide is"
It's available from the Help Menu to view within TVRename but it's also available online.
"it's been asked many times over the years for volunteers to update it"
It would be nice if they'd do it. By their own admission (in the guide) "The initial setup can be somewhat daunting" so why make it even more so by not having instructions that match what it is seen in the app?
I'm also having issues with the Windows app not being optimised for high DPI so I can't see all the Preferences properly. Some things are missing but I don't know if that's because of the high DPI issue or because those things no longer exist due to the guide not being up-to-date. The windows for things like Preferences and Filename Processors are too high for my screen and I can't see some parts of them, or OK/Cancel buttons. There are no scrollbars so I have to keep resizing the windows to see everything. I've tried changing the high DPI settings for the app and they fix some things but makes others worse.
"Are you using Bulk Add TV Shows?"
Yes I am because that's what the guide said to do.
"I've always added my content manually"
I had a look at manually adding a show but, again, the guide let me down. In the section to Add/Edit Show, it said to search for a show, highlight the correct one from the results, then "If all you want to do is see the details of the show then you’re done! Just click OK". I tried that just for a test and that wasn't all there was to it. When I clicked OK, I got a popup message saying I had to "enter a base folder for this show or turn off automatic seasons". No mention of that at all in the guide.
The manual also has issues with formatting. Some of the info is squashed into really small columns (compared to the rest of the page) so there are lines and lines of text with only a few words in each line.
"I'm guessing "x" means it couldn't find the show correctly in your library?"
Yes, I think that's what's happened. I discovered that the shows weren't being added because I have the year in the folder name. I don't know if anything can be done about that but if having the year is going to cause be problematic, I won't be able to use TV Rename.
As you can imagine, I'm feeling rather frustrated.
