How does TVR handle multiple files that are for one episode shown on theTVDb?

For example,

theTVDb shows Fantasy Island (2021) S00E02 but it's actually a compilation of 2 episodes so I could rename downloaded files to:

fantasy island (2021).s00e02.1.mkv
fantasy island (2021).s00e02.2.mkv

or

fantasy island (2021).s00e02a.mkv
fantasy island (2021).s00e02b.mkv

Read the Edit Season Rules section of the Manual at https://www.tvrename.com/manual/user/ .   It's either Merge, Split, or Collapse.  It doesn't come up that often for me so I usually get confused which one to use.  I just try them all until I get what I want.

Don’t think the current season rules cater for this scenario

One for the ideas wall

I guess I misunderstood the question.  Sorry, Steven, I didn't mean to mislead you.

Okay, Sparky.  Just wanted to make sure I didn't have a setting turned off.  I'm not sure it's an Ideas Wall type feature though but will add it if you think so.  I think of this as more of a core functionality type thing as episode files can be provided in a variety of different ways.  They can come merged, split, rar, zipped.  They can be mkv, mp4, mov, avi.  Not sure if these other examples were also all originally on the Ideas Wall before they were implemented.

Tom - No worries.  Thanks for taking the time to reach out.  Cheers!

Steven,
I think you see those variations more if you deal primarily with public torrents sites or NZB/Usenet.  I use as my source almost exclusively private torrent sites (when I'm not downloading the shows myself).  For the most part they standardize on the rules set by "The Scene."  In general terms that means that each TV episode is one .mkv file or a Rarred .mkv file.  If you haven't gained membership at a private torrent site yet, I suggest you do so.  This forum, I don't believe, is the proper place for such discussions but if you drop me an email I might be able to help you out with that.

You make a great point. I don’t personally think of TVR as handler of just torrent files that may be constrained to a very specific structure since I’ve never personally used any torrent sites (public or private) to download any of my content. I guess my experience would be quite different if most people here use TVR alongside just torrent sites. This would explain why TVR may not support other situations not typical of torrent sites.
