TVR 4.2.1-alpha 21 Starts Up & Closes

What exactly was changed after alpha version 14?  Haven't been able to get this software to run properly since 14.

It is the new browser component causing this. I am yet to hear of anyone else with the same problem though.

Can you post back the Debug.log file in the TVR installation directory please? it may contain come helpful info

Some people are afraid of snakes.  Some people are afraid of heights.  Some people are afraid of clowns.  I, personally, am afraid of Alphas.  Despite that, I loaded up Alpha 21 just to see how close we are to being a beta.  Although I only spent a half hour with it and quickly returned back to my safety zone by uninstalling it, I had no problem with it whatsoever.  I did notice that the My TV Shows information seemed to load much faster.  I did not actually load in any movies but I did go through the motions and then cancelled out because I didn't want to possibly mess up the 3.3.1 database that I knew I was going back to.  When I went in to look at the CEF files to compare them to what Tubedigger uses (Tubedigger's are older), I did see the Debug log there and I looked at it.  Mine also said that it could not load the locale resources.

Based on what I saw in that short amount of time, it is obvious that you are doing an amazing job.  You made it very easy to deal with the new portions of the program because they follow the same design as the present version.  I look forward to beta testing it in the future.

All depends on your definition of an Alpha / Beta. I'm probably inclined to leave this in 'Alpha' for a while longer than normal as the changes have been so overwhelming. There are still plenty of bit that need tidying up or adding.

If it's any reassurance I am running the alpha version to organise TV and Movies

You're last sentence does somewhat reassure me.  To me an Alpha should only be available to the Author(s) and perhaps a select group of knowledgeable users that are willing to take the risk of losing everything on their computer and/or network due to bad coding.   As I said, I'm not that person.  The fact that you, as the author, feel confident enough to use this Alpha as your primary version right now I'm starting to look at it more as a Beta.  I guess I'll cross my fingers and jump into the testing soon because what I briefly saw sure looked appealing.

Yes, it still starts up and then closes.

Yes, I have the latest Chrome browser on this machine.

I have an Intel HD Graphics 4600 on the motherboard and a GeForce GTX 870M graphics card.  Do you think it's a GPU issue?

Really have no idea. Will try adding even more logging and disabling GPU in the next version and see whether that helps.

Does typing chrome://gpu/ into chrome on that machine give any indication that anything unusual is happening with the GPU?

Well, can't figure it out.  I've tried reinstalling Chrome browser, cleaned out computer, updated all the drivers, I just can't get any of these alphas after v.14 to work.  Only thing possible at this point to completely reformat the drive and try a fresh copy of Windows on it, and well, that just isn't an option right now.  I guess if the different browser component is the direction this software is going, it's inevitable that v.14 will eventually break, and I'll be dead in the water without any future updates.
