Trouble with TV shows with dates

to TV Rename

I record and store most of the late night talk shows. By default TV Rename v5.0.8 wants to rename them with S01E01 type formatting; however, Plex doesn't recognize them that way and will not download the meta data. So I modified TV Rename to store the show with "YMDDate" but now when it scans my library it wants rename many different episodes to the same episode which would effectively delete them or doesn't find them at all. any ideas?
