Sparky,
How often are the status of shows automatically saved?  By that I mean if a show episode aired and then the video was watched and then deleted, normally you would see a green checkmark next to the show episode on the Schedule display and marked as "Previously Seen".  But it appears that if you exit TV Rename without hitting Save first or if the power to the computer is removed, the checkmark disappears and the "Previously Seen" becomes "Missing".  Even trying to run TV Rename Recover will not bring it back because it was never saved.  And I'm talking many hours/days have passed since the show was watched and deleted.
Here's what happened - I have TV Rename running 24/7.  On Friday there were about 6-7 shows that aired.  Over Friday and Saturday those show's videos were watched and deleted and marked accordingly.  The batteries to my UPSes have been dying and new ones have been purchased.  Unfortunately I haven't found the time to install them yet and that is the fact that came back to bite me in the ass (British: arse).  Just before 5am on Sunday morning I was up reading (old people keep weird hours), and the lights flickered for a second.  It turned out that a drunk hit a utility pole about a 1/2 mile down the street.  The flicker was strong and long enough to shut down my entire computer setup (computer, router, switch, servers, etc.) that were connected to the failing UPSes.  After I got everything working again I found that all the "Previously Seen" episodes were now "Missing".
This shouldn't be.  If a change is made to the status of a video, it should be immediately and permanently saved, not put into limbo waiting for someone to click on Save.  I've been burned by this too many times and I can't figure out why I (or someone else) haven't said something about this sooner.  Maybe because I'm probably one of the few that run TV Rename 24/7 I see it more often.  Am I wrong about this?  Am I missing something?

I also found that two TV shows that I set up ahead of them premiering on Sunday night also disappeared.  I got the two new shows but they didn't know where to go until I did a "Scan TV" and re-entered them.
I also lost (make that misplaced) a new movie I got.  The video file was in its proper directory but TVR didn't have it listed in its library.  I had to manually enter that one back in because "Scan Movies" couldn't find it.

Only on exit or on request. Probably a good idea to save on each change to the library and/or scan.

That wasn't exactly the answer I was hoping for but I guess I'll make do.
Is there any way to tell if something has been added to the cache?  What is the default active cache file?
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\cache\Cache\Cache_Data\data_1 ?
If I see that file grow in size that means a change was made to the cache and I can send out a "TVRename.exe /save"  to lock in the change to the library.  Right?  No?  Is there any other way to do it?
Like I said, I run 24/7 and fully automated.  If a torrent arrives in the middle of the night and gets put in one of the Search folders and gets processed into the cache, I may not be around to click on File > Save to protect it from possibly disappearing in a power outage.  If all goes well my UPS batteries will be installed in the coming weekend and lessen the likelihood of that happening, but still...

There must be a good reason for you to want to store away any changes temporarily in a cache rather than just adding them directly to the various library and setting .XMLs but I can't figure it out.

There are many 'cache's

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\cache\Cache\ is not managed by TV Rename directly. The web component we use handles putting files in there (it mainly stores images for the show details)

I'll update to do regular saves of configuration

This is the one that I was talking about:
TVRenameSettings.xml
Everything else not mentioned is stored in here. All your shows, media library paths, folder structures and settings. This is only overwritten when you choose File>Save.

If power to your computer or some other such tragedy happens before you hit Save then you lose everything that was entered since the last Save.  I would think that most people when they see a change on the screen or they add in another TV show or something similar, they assume it is permanently stored away for safe keeping.
That's ok, I've taken to clicking on Save every chance I get whether there has been a change or not.  I'll probably set up a batch file to run a command line /SAVE every 5 minutes just to be on the safe side.

I didn't quite digest your last sentence until after I wrote my reply.  So, you are going to add some method to do automatic Saves?  Good, very good.  And thank you.

Thank you!
Is it supposed to be noted in the log because I can't find anything in it that looks like it is saving the caches to the various .XML files?
When I do a manual save it shows:
07:11:00 INFO Saving Settings to C:\Users\micro\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\TVRename\2.1\TVRenameSettings.xml
07:11:00 INFO Saving Cache to: C:\Users\micro\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\TVRename\2.1\TheTVDB.xml
07:11:01 INFO Saving Cache to: C:\Users\micro\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\TVRename\2.1\TVmaze.xml
07:11:01 INFO Saving Cache to: C:\Users\micro\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\TVRename\2.1\TMDB.xml

It only saves it if you have 'auto save on exit' checked

Would look like this:
2022-11-09 12:46:29|INFO| Status on screen updated: Movie:  from TMDB
2022-11-09 12:46:32|INFO| Output File to: C:\Users\xxx\Documents\TVR Sample Docs\Shows.html
2022-11-09 12:46:38|INFO| Saving Settings to C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\TVRename\TVRename\2.1\TVRenameSettings.xml
2022-11-09 12:46:38|INFO| UI: Updating MyMovies
2022-11-09 12:46:39|INFO| Added new movie called Breaking News in Yuba County
2022-11-09 12:46:39|INFO| TV Rename free again (busy since 9/11/2022 12:45:52 PM)

I had 'auto save on exit' checked but maybe it didn't take effect until I restarted the program.  It's working now.  Thank you.
