I started collecting a new show, and put a folder for the show in the Library. The show does show up in my TV shows list and the options show the right folder. Everything about the show options looks correct, like other shows that have worked in the past. TVRename has also created Season folders in the right place, so the show is set up correct as far as I can tell.

But, when I put a file for that show in my Search Folder, like Show.Name.s01e01.mkv, that file is ignored during a scan.

The log shows that the file is seen, but TVRename decides that no action is taken with a log line "Removing 0 items from missing items..."

I'm stumped, any ideas?

Do you have Options - Preferences - Scan Settings - Missing Check - Ignore Episodes Previously Seen checked?  If so, try right-clicking the respective season of "Your TV Show Name", and selecting "Edit Season".  Then click on the "Library Episodes" and remove the episode in question if it's listed there.  Also, I'd avoid putting periods in the show name.  Use the period just as a deliminator between the show name and season/episode info. Otherwise, edit the TV Show and click on "Show Aliases" and add the show name with periods included.

Oops I should have done Reply All.

For the benefit of future searchers, this was the problem:

I had Missing Check turned on in the scan settings, but somehow NOT in the TV Show Defaults. I assumed that if a file was in the Search folder AND missing from the library, TVRename would offer to process it even if Missing Check was off -- like Missing Check was a reporting tool. In fact it seems to be the master on/off switch for renaming files in the Search folders.
