Not sure what I'm doing wrong - source/destination and original/misnamed folder names

I've been using TheRenamer for years but, after this last big Win10 update, it's stopped loading so here I am.

Got TVRename installed and got through the wizard.  I've already got a system in place using a ShowRSS.info feed going to Qbittorrent.  It drops the finished files in my D:\Videos\Downloaded folder and TheRenamer would then make things pretty and move the finished files to my NAS' TV folder.

I pointed TVRename to my NAS and it went through the existing files and cleaned them up a little so the basics are working.  It only paid attention to folders with proper show titles as their names.  So, "Krypton" was recognized but "Krypton.S01E02.HDTV.x264-SVA[rarbg]" (with a like-named video file within) was ignored and since most shows end up in a folder named like this, it looks like I might have to do everything manually which defeats the purpose.

But I don't see a way to set one folder as Source and another as Destination.  I just changed it to Bulk Add my D:\Videos\Downloaded folder and it found all the 'messily named' folders but didn't recognize which shows they are from.

Now, I don't have a problem changing Qbittorrent's destination to the NAS if necessary.  But the folder names not being recognized would be problematic if they're not recognized.

So --

1) Any way to set Source/Destination so that it can move files from one drive to another?

2) How to overcome the default messed-up folder names?

My end goal would be to insert some CLI commands into a batch file I use - it xcopy's shows like the Daily Show to one folder that I watch on a media play by my desk and, after that, the rest go to the TV folder. The batch runs after each qbittorrent download completes.  Once I figure out the ins and outs of TVRename, I'll work on figuring out the commands to have it do a Recent scan for new adds.

Hi George,

Welcome!

Basically TV Rename has 3 concepts:
 1. A set of Download/Source/Unsorted folders called 'Search Folders' configured from within Preferences
 2. A set of sorted/destinations/library folders that are called 'Monitor Folders' which are the root(s) of the library - configured and used in 'Bulk Add Shows'
 3. Each show has it's own location that can be customised.

There are then 2 features that will be useful on initial setup:
 A. Bulk Add -  Goes through the 'Monitor Folders' and looks for files already fairly tidy and adds the series to the database (run manually from the menu)
 B. Auto Add - Goes through the 'Search Folders' looking for files for series it does not yet know about (run as part of a scan, but needs to be turned on in Preferences)
(Then as a backup you can manually add shows and setup aliases to help them match)

To overcome the folder names then move all these files/folders to the 'Search Folder' / download directory and let TV Rename do its stuff

Hoe that helps - let me know if you have any other issues

Thanks for the reply.   I've currently got just the D: drive folder set up in "Search Folders" and a good handful of 'messy' folders/files within it.  In trying a few different renaming programs, one of them started deleting files (grr) so I restored some from a backup while I was out this evening.
Once home, I confirmed that "Search Folders" pointed to the D: and not the NAS and did a Recent scan.  It picked up the files restored to the NAS and ignored the folders in the D: drive so I'm not sure if that's a bug or a feature.

This was taken right after a Recent scan found the files on the NAS and renamed them.

That's fine if, for each new show, I need to check that each one points to its final destination.  I've got about 30 or so shows but that's about it so a one-time adjustment is no biggie.

The 'quick' scan will look at d:/Videos/Downloaded and identify shows to scan. A recent scan looks that the When to watch and just scans the shows in the last x days. All scan types will search in d:/videos/Downloaded for any missing files they identify.

Hope that helps - let me know how you get on
