The problem is there is no nuance in media coverage. I feel I can be critical of the Israeli government without being critical of the Jewish people, but the media seems incapable of making or even recognizing the distinction. I also do not equate Hamas with all Muslims, but the media seems to only to that.

Agree. Though in this case I think the media is following, not causing, the problem in the wider culture.  Not that this is an excuse.
