Hmm, I might have to consider this.

Disney will offer a bundle package of its three streaming services — Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ — for $12.99 a month starting on November 12th, the company announced today.

The company previously hinted at a bundle for all three services, but CEO Bob Iger made it official during the company’s investors call today. At $12.99, the bundle is cheaper than or on par with competitive streaming services, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. It’s also significantly cheaper than HBO Max’s rumored streaming price of $16 or $17 a month.

But there is no bundle option for the Ad free Hulu. And as we know ESPN+ is not ESPN.

Via Ad Week. "Disney spokesperson says there are no plans to offer a tier that include Hulu’s ad-free service,”

Doug Eastick, to (newcomer?) Carlton:
So ESPN+ is ESPN less?

The original ESPN app was intended to bring those users the "original" lineup of networks (to the extent their rights deals allow)

"Plus" brings programming that had been sold through other online means, together under that brand.

(Right?)

Hmm. My interest in ESPN+ is MMA fighting. When they switch from the prelims on ESPN+ to the main card on ESPN, will the main card be available on ESPN+? If not, I am a lot less interested.

Steve:  In some cases, if it switched over to ESPN/2 Then it would not be on ESPN+.
For example UFC 242 in September will have early prelims on +, then "normal" prelims on ESPN/2, then Main card on ESPN+ (if you order the PPV, which you can do at a discounted rate through ESPN+ apparently). For non PPV nights though, It seems as if the entire card will be ESPN+, like the UFC Fight Night shows. Examples found in this link...

Bob: I'm a newcomer, in the sense, that I don't post much, but I've been with the group since it started. I think I started on Sue Trowbridge's Late Night Lineup list back in 1994 or 1995 while in college, and made the move over to the TV list because of AB and through the steps until we got to here. I'm betting I have less than 10 posts in 25 years.

Doug: The one nice thing, I enjoy about ESPN+ is that they do have all the 30 for 30 documentaries available to watch.

The bundle is well-priced for users who already subscribe to Hulu & ESPN+; personally, since I only subscribe to Hulu, the bundle pricing doesn't do me any real favors (I mean, I guess it means I get The Ocho Online for free...). I'm curious to see if the annual price for Disney+ is any significant savings over the $7 monthly rate - if it is, I may be better off keeping my existing Hulu sub and just doing Disney+ as a stand-alone.

Disney is now offering one free year + subscription for Verizon customers with unlimited wireless Fios & 5G Home Internet: the $6.99/month will then be charged to the Verizon bill. Most analysts see this as a smart way for D+ to jump start, and I agree, though it does make it easier to keep Netflix for a year. I think it will also mean I will not do the Hulu/ESPN+ bundle (already have Hulu, though it soon may be worth less).

Apple is doing something similar giving away a one-year subscription to Apple TV+ with the purchase of new iPhones, Macs, and Apple TV devices. But the Verizon partnership seems a bigger headstart. I need a new Mac, so I may get that too.

Linked article reports Disney is early leader in the 4-way race with new streaming services (including NBC and HBO), with more awareness and intent to buy —though the last two start a few months later, so awareness may ramp up for them. Still, in crowded streaming field seems like good idea to get in early.

This is consistent with my own focus group results; the only new streaming service my three 20-something kids have been lobbying me for (they all live away from home but vampire off my television cable and streaming) is D+.
