On my TV I can watch streaming linear channels from Vizio, and through my Roku I can watch linear channels from Pluto, Tubi, the Roku Channel, and Sling (free). Linear TV isn’t going anywhere.

And you can add to that Amazon's Freevee (formerly IIMDBtv).  And between your Roku or Amazon Fire stick or Comcast's X1, linear channels will just be niche or one-show channels, whenever you just want old sitcoms or Bob Barker hosting "The Price is Right" or fight talk shows on Nosey or whatever.

I downloaded Freevee a few days ago and just checked it. There are no linear channels, just on demand content. And sure, the content on the streaming linear channels is the cheapest available. As it’s just an emerging business there’s no incentive to invest in original programming. I used to check out CBS Sports News on Pluto and it’s headlines and content for gamblers. In the future that’s the sort of thing I expect from these channels: single sponsored tailored content.

The main point being these channels aren’t disappearing in the next 5-10 years.
