via Awful Announcing per Lauren Thomas in the WSJ.

Sterling Equities the former owners of the New York Mets and owners of SportsNet New York (SNY) the Mets home on cable since 2006 are putting the RSN for sale.

Potential buyers include the team's current owner Steve Cohen and several private equity firms.

Also in the article suggests a potential merger between the Yankees cable home YES and their former cable home from 1989-2001, MSG Network. It should be noted that YES and MSG have already merged their streaming apps and have consolidated them into the Gotham Sports app.

This year SNY turned the streaming of Mets games over to MLB.

The original WSJ article isn’t clear if the whole network is for sale or if just the Wilpon/Katz controlling interest is for sale. Comcast and Charter also have an ownership stake in SNY.

The article I read last night said it was Sterling Entertainment's stake up for sale, not the whole network.

Wouldn't have meant much. Sterling's stake is basically 2/3 of it.     B
