The following are the films nominated for Oscars that were seen on streamers either directly (with in many cases a brief theatrical run to qualify for the award) or day-and-date with the theatrical run:

THE POWER OF THE DOG (Netflix):  12, including Best Picture, director Jane Campion, actor Benedict Cumberbatch, supporting actors Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee, supporting actress Kirsten Dunst, adapted screenplay by Campion from Thomas Savage's novel, original score by Jonny Greenwood, sound, production design, cinematography, editing
DUNE (HBO Max day-and-date):  10, including Best Picture, adapted screenplay from the Frank Herbert novel, score by Hans Zimmer, production design, cinematography, makeup/hairstyling, costumes, editing, visual effects
KING RICHARD (HBO Max day-and-date): 6, including Best Picture, actor Will Smith, supporting actress Aunjanue Ellis, original screenplay, Beyonce's "Be Alive" for original song, editing
DON'T LOOK UP (Netflix):  4, including Best Picture, original screenplay, score by Nicholas Britell, editing
BEING THE RICARDOS (Amazon):  3, including actor Javier Bardem (Desi), alleged actress Nicole Kidman (Lucy), supporting actor J.K. Simmons (Bill Frawley) and Sorkin gets NUTHIN!
CODA (Apple+):  3, including Best Picture, supporting actor Troy Kotsur, adapted screenplay from the film "La Famille Belier"
THE LOST DAUGHTER (Netflix):  3, including actress Olivia Colman, supporting actress Jesse Buckley, adapted screenplay from the novel by Elena Ferrante
THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH (Apple+):  3, including actor Denzel Washington, production design, cinematography
CRUELLA (Disney+ Premier Access day-and-date):  2, including makeup/hairstyling and costumes
TICK, TICK...BOOM! (Netflix):  2, including actor Spider-Man, editing
SINGLETONS:  "Luca," animated feature (Disney+), "The Mitchells vs. the Machines," animated feature (Netflix), "Raya and the Last Dragon," animated feature (Disney+ Premier Access day-and-date), "The Hand of God," international feature from Italy (Netflix), "Summer of Soul," documentary feature (Hulu day-and-date), "Audible," short documentary (Netflix), "Lead Me Home," short documentary (Netflix), "Three Songs for Benazir," short documentary (Netflix), "Robin Robin," animated short (Netflix), "Coming 2 America," makeup/hairstyling (Amazon).

For the rest, you know where to go.  Mar. 27 on ABC, and there will be a host, probably not Whoopi.

Hottest Take: I have not yet seen “Dog”, but Cumberbatch will have to deliver the performance of a lifetime to out due Denzel as Macbeth. I am no expert, but I have seen the play, filmed and live, many many times, and he made me feel like I was seeing it for the first time. A month after seeing it I find myself thinking about it again and again.

Other Hot Take: As I mentioned elsewhere, if anyone deserves an award for the disappointing Ricardo’s, it is the amazing Nina Arianda; it is an outrage that she appears to be the only of the 4 main actors not nominated (the only other that maybe deserved it was JK).

Not for any of these, but with two noms for theatrical-only Belfast, Kenneth Branagh makes Oscar history as the only nominee in seven different categories... he'd already become a legend at the Academy for being the 10th earner of the best-actor-and-picture-nom double, for Henry V (Beatty and Eastwood did it twice) and if, as expected, he wins the picture-director-original screenplay hat trick, he'll be the ninth to achieve that (well, maybe tenth... the Coen brothers)...

I liked The Power of the Dog - it has some very nuanced performances and you're never entirely sure where it's going. Whether it's "Best Picture" material or not, I don't know. Cumberbatch is excellent though. I confess that I didn't get on with MacBeth. It was just too cold for my tastes and not entirely joined up. Kathryn Hunter as the three witches was extraordinary though.

Dune was very much not a streaming film this side of the pond - HBO Max hasn't launched in the UK yet because of HBO's existing output deal with Sky. It won't win, but I loved it.

The Lost Daughter is great, but I can't see Colman winning again. She's just good in everything.

I've yet to see Belfast which a lot of smart money is on.

I can't help noticing Netflix is outspending just about everyone on the FYC ads. I read print copies of The Guardian in the UK, and you'd think it was Daily Variety for the number of FYC ads it contains. Apple is the other massive spender.

Suffice it to say, Mr. Cumberbatch's performance is as interesting as his 'Murcan accent sounds authentic, which is to say, not at all.

Campion is now the first woman to be nominated for Best Director twice, apparently for bamboozling studios into allowing her to make two of the dullest pictures in film history.

I'd rather watch the Ricardos again ...

Re: MacBeth

I own multiple versions, some better, others worse. This latest version of MacBeth feels ham-fisted, the sort of thing somebody who wanted to mock PBS would point to as an example of the elite nonsense they subsidized back when I was a kid (“oooh, it’s in black and white, so it must be artsy!”). There was some decent acting, but there was also a lot of overacting. And to me the real star of MacBeth is Lady MacBeth, and that star didn’t shine for me in this version.

Clearly I strongly disagree with you on this version overall, though I do agree that Francis McDermott, one of our most talented actresses, is surprisingly less effective in her role as Lady Mac than most of the rest of the cast is in theirs.

In case everyone has not seen it, Ethan Cohen reviewed Joel Cohen's MacBeth.

I just noticed this on the third read.  It's Andrew Garfield. Some readers may have thought of T. Holland, T. Maguire, or any of the myriad of other folks that have played Spidey (Yardbarker), tho, say, Paul Soles wouldn't have come to mind quickly.     B

McDormand, whom I generally like, did the show live here at Berkeley Rep a few years ago (with some joker from Game of Thrones). Reviews were mixed: Review: Toil and trouble, and missed connections, in 'Macbeth' at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. I'm not a fan of the play, generally (it suffers from some of the text going missing over the years, apparently), and have managed to avoid the Coen version.

I have now seen the Dog. I don’t hate Campion, and I find Dave’s judgement far too harsh. There is something of an irritating challenge in much of her work though, as if she is pacing the action as slowly as possible and daring the audience to complain.

I enjoyed the four main performances a lot in Dog (not enough for The Batch to overtake Denzel in my judgement for Best Actor). I wonder if the book comes across in the same way; the film’s only camouflage for its ending is sparse dialogue and cryptic direction, rather than plot complication. That is not necessarily bad, but it does not seem substantial enough in this case to me to justify itself.

I have now seen 6 of the nominated Best Films, and would rate Dune, Macbeth, Belfast and Licorice Pizza (not in that order) ahead of Power of the Dog (that’s not a knock on Dog, because I liked those 4 all very much). I have to take Dave’s comment as hyperbole, as Dog is far more satisfying than the Ricardo’s.

I have to admit I find myself shocked that anyone would find my being adamant as hyperbole :)

I was as bored stiff by "Power of the Dog" as I was by "The Piano," so I assume it has to do my with not being on the same wavelength as Campion (though my wife, who's much more forgiving -- I mean, she married me ... - felt the same way).

As for the "Ricardos," as bad as it was (not "Don't Look Up"-bad, but knocking on the door), it at least kept me involved as I kept rolling my eyes and yelling at it. "Dog" just stupefied me.

For a second there I thought you were talking about the new Channing Tatum comedy "Dog."

Not nominated for any Oscars. Although that's because it won't be eligible until next year's awards.
