Not the Commissioner, the onetime drummer of L.A.'s "Wrecking Crew" that played on a stack of pop hits, spent decades in prison for being driven by schizophrenia to kill his mother, won a Grammy years after the fact when official co-writer Eric Clapton revived "Layla" on MTV Unplugged, and allegedly swiped credit from Rita Coolidge (whom he brutally beat, f'rinstance, in 1970) for part of said "Layla."

In said prison, Vacaville, CA; 77.

I wonder who his executor is... could it be Coolidge?

Footnote: Schizophrenia does not drive people to kill their mothers, and most schizophrenics are not violent. The presence of command hallucinations, which Gordon reported at his trial, does increase the risk for violence, though many schizophrenics who have command hallucinations telling them to kill people are able to say no to the voices.

He died in Vacaville, not Napa State or Atascadero, so it appears he was found guilty of murder, not judged insane.
