Warner Bros. may be shutting down "Judge Mathis" after 24 seasons, but Greg Mathis will still be a TV arbitrator this fall under the auspices of Byron Allen's Allen Media Group, joining Allen's eight (!) other court shows in syndication and on the cable channel Justice Central TV (one of Allen's many cable channels) with "Mathis Court"--no indication whether the show will continue to originate in Chicago or if he will move to Allen's studios in LA:

I have never watched Judge Judy, and have not seen People’s Court since the Reagan Administration, but at least I was aware of their existence and role in the culture. I don’t think I have ever heard of, and certainly have no awareness of, “Judge Mathis”. I don’t think I know anyone who has ever mentioned watching it, or even made fun of it.

The courtroom shows are for people like my late mother who aren’t going to switch to any streaming network and just want something on during the day to keep them company while they do their crossword. With my mom, it was either courtroom shows or House Hunters. Mom would’ve enjoyed listening to her favorite music, too,  but she could never get the hang of CD players, and radio stations long ago stopped playing Kenny Rogers and Barry Manilow.

I didn’t mean to throw any shade at those who do watch these shows, just find it curious a show like this could be so successful that it was on every year of this century and it made no dent in my pop culture awareness.

Byron Allen: taking stuff that was popular a decade ago, repackaging it and ramming it down your throat now (and threatening to sue if you don't watch it).

Accusing you of racism if you don’t agree to syndicate it
