Dead at 96. Sadly, her final film Buttons is practically unwatchable.

She is outlived by her doppelgänger Sir Paul McCartney

Plot twist: She will make a cameo appearance in Glass Onion (the Knives Out sequel), out next month.

Just rewatched Gaslight a few weeks ago, in which she played a teenaged version of the Mother in Manchurian Candidate; both superb performances. But my favorite will always be Mrs Potts, which gave me so many joyful hours with my then young daughters.

During the Trump administration, I decided to watch the original Manchurian candidate movie. To my surprise, Angela played the mother.

....

So, based on CBS hour long actors in the 80s and 90s, does that mean Tom Sellick is next? Dick Van Dyke?

Who did you think she played?

I did not know she was going to be in the movie.    I had no idea who was in the movie.    I searched the nether regions of the internet for a "Betamax" copy of the movie, obtained it, added it to my Plex server, and then watched it.   I didn't even look at the cast nor the poster.

First time I saw her character...... "oh I think that's the Murder She Wrote actress".   Pause.... look her up..... apparently she had a career prior to Murder She Wrote :-D

(insert head-slap emoji)

... speaking of movies.... I'm cleaning out "Betamax" movies to make space for others.    Email me off-list if anyone wants to see a list of Betamax versions movies I have before I trash them.   I can send a list of current Betamax movies I have that I'm willing to donate.

Oh that’s a great experience, I love when that happens. I have seen “The Thin Man” film several times, and recently decided to plow through the rest of the series, and was blown away to see a young famous face in the third lead (well, maybe fourth after the dog).

I recommend the James Garner movie “Marlowe” for those who want to be amazed at the supporting cast. Huge names in tiny roles, playing their parts as though they were the leads.

And IIRC -- it's been a number of years since I saw it -- that young famous face turns out to play a surprising role.

Are you talking about "After the Thin Man"?

Yes. That’s the second film in the series.

A regular Lansbury costar, Ron Masak (the sheriff), passed Thursday... my first memory of him was "Love Thy Neighbor," a 70s summer ABC comedy... I'd forgotten he was the Grouchoesque voice of the Vlasic pickles stork... 86.
