Watched the first three episodes. It actually reminds me of the Christian drama series The Chosen, and not in a good way. It flashes forward and backward in time… a lot. Spoiler alert: He dies at the end.

streaming on Disney.

Several episodes written by the guy behind the US “House of Cards” which means it takes five episodes to show what should’ve been edited down to five minutes. I’m still watching, but I’m not heavily invested in it.

This is easily my favourite Star Wars show. Yes - ahead of The Mandolorian. It's quite possibly my favourite Disney+ show yet. Indeed it's easily one of my best shows of the year.

I love the pacing of it, which absolutely is slower than usual. And it takes time to reveal its plot. But this is what I want from a Star Wars show - something that explores characters away from the, by now, overly familiar ones. And this is an "adult" take. It's still PG-13, but it's dark, imaginative and addresses things in a different way. It's incredible that this much money has been spent on a show with these kinds of ideas.

It might work better if all the episodes were available at once because I'd happily spend several hours at a time in this world. The various strands are only now being pulled together, but with just a few episodes to go, I don't really know where the show is going to finish. And I like that. I want to be surprised. I want more than a final boss-level battle, something far too many Marvel/Disney series end with.

And the style of this show is up there with Severance - there are definite parallels between the two.

Also some recent episodes were shot at the heavily disguised Barbican Centre in London - a major arts venue here that has a Brutalist architectural style. It was entertaining recognising corridors and stairways I know well.

Disney has a whole Star Wars world to explore, and they really need to delve into them with different types and styles of shows. I'd be very happy with more of this!

ABC to air its first two episodes (from September) the day before Thanksgiving (also the day of the season finale's début on the Plus); FX and Freeform to repeat the feat the following two nights, all at 9-11pm east... Hulu will then get them for a few weeks...
