Just as Bob Iger has returned to Disney, the company's been hit with a class action lawsuit accusing them of using their controlling interest of Hulu and its Hulu + LIve TV tier (after they bought out most of 20th-Century Fox from Rupert Murdoch) forcing skyrocketing subscription fees for live streamers of cable channels  like Sling and YouTube Live by requiring that the ESPN channels be included on the lowest tier of programming, whether or not people want the Worldwide Leader:

Which is similar to how Disney helped to jack up cable TV subscriber fees and start this whole business of cord-cutting that has endangered cable television.

Iger can’t fix Disney. The streamer is a billion dollars in debt, theme park attendance is dramatically down, and the only solutions on the table seem to be to raise the price of both.

Spent the last few days back in San Diego. Walked around Coronado and the word is that the Hotel Del is secretly transitioning to residential condos, bungalows, etc, because too few people can afford rooms there anymore. They’ve priced themselves out of what people are willing to pay. I can’t help but think there’s a metaphor there for Disney.
